Such a wonderful story! Nate sets out to make his dreams happen only to have things go terribly wrong! But .... there is a wonderful light at the end of his tunnel!
Great middle grade book!

Ashes to Asheville | Sarah Dooley

Pickpick

This one gets a pick. Wasn‘t sure about that, though, until the end.

Zany and Fella are on a road trip to honor Mama Lacy‘s final wish — to have her ashes scattered back in Asheville, NC. Things go terribly wrong along the way but the sisters press on.

The last part of the story made up for all my misgivings about the rest.

Lily and Dunkin | Donna Gephart

Pickpick

So glad Lily and Dunkin came into my life! Lily, transgender, trying to be her true self going into 8th grade; Dunkin, trying to find his place in a new town, living with bipolar disorder.

The author gets middle school — Lily and Dunkin are struggling while assuming the other has it all together.

The last part of the book tore out my heart then mended it beautifully.

all middle schoolers read this!
