I was thinking this was going to be akin to Madeline Miller‘s style of Greek myth retelling, but it was an analytical history lesson about women getting the shaft while their male peers are glorified over and over for the same or worse behaviors. A fascinating, scholarly, and at times comedic look at 10 women who deserve another portrayal than what history gave them. Book #63 in 2024

I have to say, this book was done with a great story of female country singers, death and mystery all in one. Highly recommend it.
Oh and I didn't figure out who donnit.

A Fatal Affair | A. R. Torre

Pickpick

A fun mystery, but *trigger warning* a young child is kidnapped. This is a multi-POV thriller and fortunately one POV is the child, so just know he will be okay. There were so many POVs that switched often and a very convoluted plot. Definitely an interesting but altogether easy read if you keep an open mind and blindly follow crazytown. Book #63 in 2023

There are a few genuine surprises throughout this one. Also notable is the theme of survival: when given the choice, who do you save? The storyline may be a teensy bit contrived, but it's worth it for the entertainment factor.

Saga #64 | Brian K. Vaughan

#63 was kind of boring filler, but as expected, Saga bounces right back. Lots more trouble for the kids, baddies still on the hunt, and a mom just trying to survive. The only thing that vexed me is this issue has more Esperanto than they‘ve used in a while and having to read with Google Translate is annoying.

claudiuo Thank you so much for posting these, you are awesome! As for books, I've read #25, closest is #30 Thin Air by Richard K. Morgan. Same for #92, I will use the ill-fated #100 which I still haven't read even if it came up 3 times already. Also #63 I read a couple months ago, closest is #59: The Last Librarian by Brandt Legg.
Thanks a lot again and wish you a restful end of the week!

PuddleJumper @claudiuo Wow! You are crushing it! 2y
Clwojick Seriously hoping you‘ll be continuing with this for next year, as I‘ve already started compiling two separate lists for my Chirp audiobook backlog, and my NetGalley backlog. I feel like I‘ll have better luck with the audiobooks, as opposed to doing physical books like I did this year. 2y
PuddleJumper @Clwojick Yes, I'll be carrying it on 2y

Very gripping!!! This was a smart, creepy, and so well written. I cannot believe the twists…I didn‘t see THEM coming!!!! Reminded me of Lucy Foley‘s ‘The Guest List‘. Book #63 in 2022

Needed a break from emotional reading so I decided to revisit the Ralph Mouse Collection by childhood favorite Beverly Cleary. Never a disappointment. #63, 64 & 65-2022
