I have a new obsession: library cookbooks! Checked out this one due to my frustration of getting the books I want to read that fit the challenge #ReadICT category: season. 🤣 (I want to read Ali Smith‘s Autumn but my library doesn‘t have it?!?!?!?) 🍽️🍝🍂

#ReadICT category Season #Aug2024 Book71

Tamra I have a library cookbook “problem” - it means I check them out and then often feel compelled to buy them! 😆 Actually it‘s the perfect way to see whether any specific book is a fit because they are pricey. 3mo
BkClubCare @Tamra - I take pics or make copies of the recipes I want. I did tell my mom that I want a book for Christmas 🎄 3mo
Liz_M I fully support the library cookbook obsession! 3mo

You may recall (yeah, ok, I get it! You probably don‘t, which is fine…) that I got the hardcover via ILL from the library! And then had to return it - ran out of time/priorities. And then! The Libby version became available! Exciting, yes? I managed to read it before it was due. Loved each essay more then the last one - which means: the Alice part notsomuch, so I skipped around and didn‘t read in order. I‘m a fan. 🌟

One bingo Column 1 🎉 and a “sort of” bingo Row 3 when I randomly placed the books I was currently reading when I realized I had failed to put them on the original list of 20. OOOOPs❗️ I won‘t likely finish any more books from the card in the next few days…. I am proud that I got the Spin 🍭 Book read 😁 I read 14 books this month — only 6 were on this card 🤔 #BookSpinBingo

A God in Ruins | Kate Atkinson

“He had settled on BLAKE…” When I read SO many books back to back, usually at some weird whim, and then they happen to CONNECT?! 💞 I call it book-coinkydink. This book mentions William Blake as did the Olga Tokarczuk‘s Drive Your Plow.

willaful I get these so often I blog about them once a month. :-) 3mo
BkClubCare Thank you @BarkingMad for reminding me that I have wanted to read this after falling for 3mo
BkClubCare I enjoyed spending time with Ursula‘s little brother. Atkinson is a must read author and she has plenty for me to get to yet. 💖 3mo

I am on a Colson streak! This book is after The Underground Railroad, and before the Ray Carney series. I am a fan, he is an excellent writer #buthoweverahem… this just isn‘t his best work and that is okay! It‘s still a good book and a sad chronicle of disturbing abuse of power in US history.

This is for September‘s book club. Because the hold list at the library is very long, I decided to purchase (from my fave indie @ WatermarkBooksandCafe) and share with my mother (😳) and her bestie. Mom got it first, said, “I guess I‘m a bit of a prude, but the writing is good.” oooookay. Um YEAH, even when a grownass adult, it‘s uncomfortable to know how your mother might react!! I ended up enjoying this very much and hope club discussion ⬇️

BkClubCare Will be lively. I want to discuss the concept pictured here: how a woman is either a victim/innocent or slut/knowledged. CONTROL 🤯 3mo

I had no idea what to expect when I started this. In fact, 🤦🏻‍♀️ I was foolishly thinking it was a short story collection. Kept seeing it on many Best Of lists and somehow grabbed a copy from a LFL or the Library sale, can‘t recall. I am starting to wonder if I should do more prep. I usually don‘t read/enjoy mystery/thrillers because then I start thinking they will be fast and twisty. This is NOT. This is definitely on the literary side and ⬇️

BkClubCare it took some time to get into. I needed more big blocks of uninterrupted time to finally get swept into it to appreciate. Which I do! Giving it high pick. Just stick with it and don‘t give up on ol‘ Mrs. Duszejko. 🦌🦴🚜❄️🌲🐕 (edited) 3mo

August 15 is #LemonMeringuePie Day! Tomorrow (8/18) is Ice Cream 🍨 Pie Day, the 20th is Chocolate Pecan Pie Day, and Peach Pie is Aug 24! August must be Pie Month…

I enjoyed this audiobook (Audible exclusive) and it had lots and lots of pie mentions, in addition to family dynamics, grief, and a hopeful ending. 💖🥧🌟

Tamra Ooooo 🍋🍋 My favorite! 3mo

I have a pic of my dog on the sofa that is such a favorite that this scene hit me in all the feels. I bought this for my grand nephew who is 3; hoping he will love it. The art is lovely, the animals mentioned provide some learning, and it won a Caldecott.

Have I ever met a pie book I didn‘t like? 🤔

I must add… this has connections to Braiding Sweetgrass that is rather astonishing to me: milkweed, anyone? Cattails?! ❤️🌱
