I know these books are ridiculous and can be formulaic. However, they can be fun, silly, and a comfort read. I will say, though, that the boxer in this one is too much for me and I often skip some of the details. 😕 I love Grandma Mazur. TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! Sometimes it's just nice to revisit a series with characters you already know and love!! 1y
AshleyHoss820 @TheAromaofBooks I always say, popcorn fiction is still important! Sometimes you get tired of a 7-course meal and you just want a snack! ☺️ 1y

This was pretty decent! It‘s hard to fool me, which is why no one likes to watch murder mysteries with me. This book had me spinning in circles. I couldn‘t trust my instincts, even when my instincts turned out to be right, I was STILL thinking I was chasing a red herring. This is 7th in the Harry Hole detective series, but that didn‘t affect the reading. July‘s #BookSpin #BarnesNobleChallenge About a Murder

White Noise | Don DeLillo

This book is hilarious and terrifying. It‘s brilliant and absolute nonsense. I freaking LOVED it. Jack and Babette (4th wife, 5th marriage) and their blended family experience a toxic event, but it represents the larger mass of white noise that is constantly surrounding us. My #bookspin for February (🫣) #BarnesNobleChallenge: #NationalBookAwardWinner AND 🥁 231/1,001 #1001Books ALSO, Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig movie adaptation? I‘m in.

There were parts about this book that really frustrated me, but overall I like this one. It felt like this one looked at how we are and how we appear and which is more important. 228/1,001 #1001Books #52BookClub Featuring an Inheritance; #BarnesNobleChallenge Published Before You Were Born; Double #BookSpin for March

Abuela | Arthur Dorros

This book is colorful, sweet, funny, and whimsical. I love that it is bilingual, mingling Spanish words in the narration. The words are then translated in the back of the book. So many of us are struggling to learn another language (I'm still working on Korean), and exposing our kiddos to different languages and cultures can only enrich their lives. I love this little story about a girl's day out with her Abuela. #MensaKidsExcellenceInReading K-3

Love Medicine: A Novel | Louise Erdrich

There is no way I will be able to put into words how much I enjoyed this. This is a story of belonging, of longing, of hope, and destruction. It‘s so sad, but it‘s so authentic, too. I cannot believe this is my first Erdrich. I used this for the #FlourishAndBlotts reading challenge prompt, “Angelina Johnson: BIPOC author.” (Erdrich is “a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, a federally recognized tribe of the Anishinaabe.”)

This is out of my comfort zone, so take that into account! #Pop23 #ABookYouThinkYourBestFriendWouldLike & #BarnesNobleChallenge #FriendFavorites. I think this was *trying* to go somewhere & I wasn‘t expecting anything earth-shattering. I liked the witty characters. I felt some of their behaviors/reactions challenged my suspension of disbelief. Not bad but not great. It didn‘t ask too much of my brain & that kind of reading‘s okay sometimes!

AshleyHoss820 I was going to do what I normally do and use a quote from the book, but for obvious reasons I couldn‘t do that…I have to say, if I were Eva and this were Gideon, I would have a hard time mentally functioning around him too. 😂 2y
