I wanted to be riveted, but I really wasn't. Barely held my attention.

Meh

TieDyeDude Ha! I probably wouldn't have finished this if I didn't listen to the audio. The narrator's performance made up for the weak second half. 10mo
S3V3N @TieDyeDude I agree! It picks up towards the end. Before that I struggled with it and I had the audio too. She got into more or something at the end. (edited) 10mo

Mehso-so

I listened this on Audiobook from Libby. The author narrated it. I found it to be just meh. It didn't really keep my interest until about 80% thru, then it really picked up. I did figure out the ending about 85% into it. It's really slow, but does pickup toward the end.

🙂 Happy Reading 🙃

Great mystery/thriller on audio! I enjoyed listening to this one. I'd recommend to anyone wanting something fun to try on audio. Always enjoy those twists that come right at the end.

MyNamesParadise I have this book but haven‘t read it! I‘ll have to give it a try! 10mo

Pickpick

My dad, 87, has been pushing me to read this book. He wasn't wrong. It was refreshing to read an original thriller with well thought out twists and turns AND a satisfying ending. Pardon me, while I go call my dad.

RebL Yay, Dad! Stacked. 11mo

Thanks for the tag, @RaeLovesToRead 💕
Islands are right up my alley! 😊

1. So many... Anytime:
Japan (regardless which one - either one of the main islands ( esp. Hokkaido or Honshu again), or the Okinawan or any small Japanese one);
Taiwan
Ireland
The Channel Islands
Easter Island
Hawaii (any island)
or... Langeoog again.
2. if Japan (Hokkaido) or Hawaii: the tagged book
on Kyushu: Kafka on the Shore
on Honshu: any Murakami ... ⤵️

Yuki_Onna Continued:
*Langeoog: Shark Drunk by Morten Stroksness; The North Water by Ian McGuire (topic: rough seas) or Monster Love by Carol Topolski (thriller, first book I read on my 'adult' stays on the island)
*Ireland: I'd BUY tons of books there again: ghost story anthologies, books about Irish & Celtic myths, mythological creatures, thrillers set in Ireland.
*tropical/far away islands: any psychological thriller taking place on a tropical island.
