Conclusion of a 2 part-er within this long Mary Russell / Sherlock Holmes series. It must have been good cos I stayed up until 3am to finish it and I really try not to do that too often!! I love the historical detail in this series and Mary is a fabulous character. No 10 in the series. #CrimeReads #CosyCrime #CrimeFiction #Sherlock #HistoricalCrime #SherlockHolmes #MaryRussell #DetectiveNovel

I've never read the original Sherlock Holmes books but I love the YA Enola Holmes books and this great series by Laurie R King gives an older Sherlock a young and brilliant wife, Mary Russell and she is the narrator of this richly researched historical series. This particular one is the first half of a 2 part-er which is slightly annoying... but I still highly recommend them. #CrimeReads #CosyCrime #Sherlock #HistoricalCrime

I read an article recently about this young author, and realized this was her book. I've seen this book EVERYWHERE, but really had no clue what it was about. Now, that I've finally read the description, I can't wait to check it out! ✌🏼

For my fellow #TrueCrime junkies - new (to me) podcasts!! Most sound really interesting, particularly “Mobbed Up” about the history of the Mafia in Las Vegas as well as “Unfinished: Deep South” which explores a 65-year old racially motivated cold case of murder in Arkansas that occurred shortly after the Brown v. Board of Education ruling. #CrimeReads #crime

BarbaraBB Thanks for sharing, I love True crime podcasts! Do you have any favorites that you‘ve listened to? 4y
cathysaid @BarbaraBB “In The Dark” by APM reports is probably my favorite so far, particularly Season 2 (but season 1 was also good). They follow the case of Curtis Flowers, a black man in MS who has been tried six times for the saw crime. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court. I also liked “Up and Vanished” by some of the same producers. I think Oxygen TV might have made some episodes into a show (I never watched). Do you have any faves? (edited) 4y
BarbaraBB I loved Cold and Live and Die in LA. I‘ve heard a lot of ads for Curtis Flowers, so if you say it‘s so good I will finally listen to it! I also liked Up and Vanishing! 4y

cathysaid @BarbaraBB Cool! I‘ll add those! We seem to have similar tastes 😬 The Curtis Flowers case...just maddening. I think you‘ll find it interesting. 4y
BarbaraBB I think so too, I haven‘t listened so far because the southern accent is sometimes hard for me to understand (as English is not my first language), but I‘ll give it a try! 4y
cathysaid @BarbaraBB I completely understand. I‘m a southerner and I often have a hard time 😂 4y
Gaylagal2 @cathysaid If your a parent or a citizen detective (me), Hunting Warhead is a frightening and well put together podcast. A warning : It is EXTREMELY difficult to listen to at times because of the subject covered. It took me several tries to get through some of the episodes. But in the end it was worth it and I learned so much! Another good one is Down the Hill 🤙 4y
cathysaid @Gaylagal2 Thanks! I‘ll check them out 4y
