June #storygraph book report, right on track for 52 books this year!

#camplitsy25 pick Wild Dark Shore and a Murderbot novel take first place!

I think that‘s the last of the Murderbot novels. I hope Martha Wells‘ health improves and that she can possibly write more, I‘m obsessed with the series.

julesG She's working on another Murderbot, expected next year. I asked her on BlueSky not expecting an answer. So, was doubly happy when she replied. 4w
Suet624 @julesG that‘s lovely that she responded to you. 4w
Kitta @julesG oh wow that she responded to you!! Next year then, I can‘t wait! 4w

Pickpick

It‘s refreshing to meet a writer who clearly understands the core issues dividing this country. Unfortunately, this book offers a bleak assessment of our future, suggesting that our nation is on its last legs.
The author not only diagnoses the problems but also explores solutions most Americans overwhelmingly support. Yet, these efforts are being blocked by those who act as parasites, standing in the way of progress and meaningful change.

Enough with nonsense word salad. Be gone! 😂

The title is the only good part of this book.

4/80

Pickpick

Another wonderful op shop find. Written in 1986 after a visit to Pakistan and the Afghan refugee camps there. It was when the Russians were invading Afghanistan. I learnt a lot . Not only about the history but about the author. Before the invasion Afghanistan was on its way to becoming a modern country with a bright future where girls were educated, the various groups got along and the countryside was not the desert it became with the invasion. 👇

Jeg Really nothing has changed for the Afghanis, in fact it is probably far worse. A very interesting read for me. Hope more of her books pop up. She was a woman before her time really. Very much a humanitarian. 11mo

Two years of existing in a misogynist hellscape where eggs have more rights than you, as a living, breathing, person with dreams of your own. Two years of being seen as nothing more than a production line. Roe was never enough. When we said we ‘weren‘t going back‘, that was true. We‘ve gone somewhere much worse.
