Woke up with a migraine = lots of comics today. Saved this for bedtime because I knew it would be gorgeous and relaxing and full of tiny dragons but I WAS NOT EXPECTING ALL OF THESE FEELS. OKAY JUST CASUALLY INTRODUCE A CHARACTER WITH A DISABILITY AND THEN IMMEDIATELY GIVE HER A SUPPORTIVE FRIEND. I‘LL JUST BE HERE IN THE CORNER WITH MY FEELINGS. #DisabilityBooks #QueerBooks #FriendshiptotheMax

Really enjoyed this sequel. This is a series where people with disabilities are not reduced to a plot point or a someone who must be fixed. Scalzi populates his world with characters living with Haden‘s, and they are multi-dimensional people. He includes discussion of complex concepts like privilege and characters with complex identities (thinking of the twins) without trying to tie them up in a neat little bow, and it doesn‘t slow down the plot⬇️

Mindelan I hope Scalzi‘s success encourages publishers to take on more stories like this. #disabilitybooks 7y

Just finished this and enjoyed it immensely. It‘s so hard to maintain a light, playful tone while exploring real issues, but Mackenzi Lee did it in a way that felt very genuine. The audible narrator is excellent and the writing is heartfelt and funny. Now I have the best problem, which is finding anything capable of following this up. At least there is another book featuring the same characters due next year! #queerbooks #disabilitybooks

Well friends, I stayed up past bedtime to finish this gem, so I think the slump is dead! This book was sweeter, deeper, and much more fun than I anticipated. The narration also made me laugh SO HARD I got coffee up my nose, and I still liked the book so really there's no higher recommendation. #queerbooks #bibooks #disabilitybooks

My #currentread is a deep dive into our concept of "cure". What kinds of existing are defined as needing to be cured? Which communities are hoping for cure, and which communities want acceptance and affirmation rather than cure? Thank goodness we have Eli Clare's beautiful brain to examine it all. #queerbooks #transbooks #disabilitybooks

I've fallen off the #photoadaynov2016 but I couldn't resist jumping back in for #disabilities because I'm currently reading the amazing Brilliant Imperfections by Eli Clare who takes a fascinating and important critical stance on the way that disability is most commonly framed. #transbooks #queerbooks #disabilitybooks

Centique I love that quote 👍 8y

I'm so excited to start this one! Thanks to #netgalley! I have really enjoyed Clare's previous work - he is such a powerhouse on queer issues, trans issues, and disability issues. #transbooks #queerbooks #disabilitybooks
