This is a great book to read in your classroom! It can serve as a window and/or a mirror!
A book featuring an Asian American girl's reflection on her eyes and her family. The illustrations depict characters from Chinese mythology (like the Monkey King). Very uplifting!

“When Mama tucks me in at night, her eyes tell me I'm a miracle.“
Although I do not relate to this book. I have seen people get made fun of their cultures and effect them first hand. I do not think its ever okay to make fun of someone for their identity, but we need to be able to celebrate people.
This is a book about celebrating culture. When a little girl does not feel good about her aisian eyes she learns to appreciate them because she has “Eyes that kiss in the corner“
Quarterly appointment with my Retinal specialist today, which is practically an all day thing due to travel, needing to have lunch so I don‘t starve, and DC traffic.
The vision in my left eye is as above, due to a retinal tear - I lost my reading spot in that eye as well, so I can only read with my right eye.
The good news is that both eyes are stable right now, and I can relax for another four months. Yay!
