“When Mama tucks me in at night, her eyes tell me I'm a miracle.“

Although I do not relate to this book. I have seen people get made fun of their cultures and effect them first hand. I do not think its ever okay to make fun of someone for their identity, but we need to be able to celebrate people.

This is a book about celebrating culture. When a little girl does not feel good about her aisian eyes she learns to appreciate them because she has “Eyes that kiss in the corner“

#JanuaryJazz Day 12: #NationalTeaDay reminded me of this book with lovely children being described as having “Eyes That Glow Like Warm Tea.” Instead of the usual expected derogatory remarks, this book offers an alternative way of perceiving by providing a description that is not only poetic, but also culturally apt. Summary:This book is about a celebration of your self and diversity. This book is about a little girl who learns to love the shape of her eyes.

This book tells the story of a girl who has eyes that kiss in the corner. This brought to light how her family has the same eyes and how it should be celebrated. Throughout the story, the perspective is based on the little girl who talks about how their eyes tell the stories and how there is so much hope in them as well.

I love this book, because it feels like home every time I read it. Growing up, I got made fun of for having my Asian eyes so it is so nice to see a book that celebrates it.

This book is not only a stunning picture book but it also tells a story about learning to love and celebrate your Asian-shaped eyes. a young girl notices that her eyes look different from everyone else's. She notices that her eyes are like her mother's, her grandmother's, and her little sister's. Later, she recognizes her own beauty and discovers a path to self-love and empowerment.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to share it with the children that I work with. The main character has different eye shapes then her friends. She comes to realize that her eyes are the same as her moms, grandmas and sister. Their eyes hold stories from the past and future and that they are beautiful.

I love when the publisher provides activities to go with a book. I print them all and let the kids choose. The butterfly was a winner. I think they are tired. They just want to color. We read this #outloud last week and they are asking for more.

A great body positivity book, featuring diversity. The young character in this book notices how her eyes look different than her classmates, and yet her eyes are special. Her eyes resemble family members‘ eye shapes, and each remarkable woman can see remarkable things with their eyes. Letter E #PictureBook #BBRC

Another body-positivity book for young children of color. This one explores the premise that this narrator‘s eyes don‘t look like the girls‘ at school, but she does look just like her mother, and grandmother, and baby sister. Such a beautiful children book. The pictures are so beautiful. I highly recommend if you have children or for yourself. ❤️

Our Literacy class (EC-6 grade) has my daughter and I checking out more children‘s books, and this one was beautiful! Absolutely beautiful. My husband is half-Japanese, so our son is a quarter, and he (our son) has eyes that kiss in the corners. (My mother in law, who is Japanese, thought it was so cool that he has more of the “Japanese eyes” than my husband lol)

No wonder this book is so popular. Totally an #everybodybook it is full of literary devices and poetic imagery for writing prompts. #readforperspective Have a conversation about how we are all different, but not so much. #wccpba

This picture book filled my heart with an overwhelming amount of joy. It's so wonderful to see kidlit with kids who love themselves, their family, their culture, and their ethnicity. The illustrations are breathtakingly gorgeous. Highly recommended and a new favourite.

A sweet and mesmerizing story about the beauty of family, heritage, diversity and the joy of seeing yourself in someone else's eyes. The artwork is magically enthralling. I loved this one! #teachersoflitsy

I think this activity would be used well with UDL 8.3 foster collaboration and community

Eyes that Kiss in the Corners by Joanna Ho and illustrations by Dung Ho is a great story with a great storyline 🎈🌺 culturally diverse books are needed in classrooms so every student feels seen and heard🌼🌻 #UCFLAE3414SP21
