Another book finished for #SciFiSummer. This was a great first book in the Firefly series and I'm looking forward to reading the others.

? I ordinarily love everything Una McCormack does, but this was disappointing. I don't know if maybe I let the narration (Foster's was great; Lawrence's was grating) sully my enjoyment of the story, or if the story was just meh, but whatever it was I didn't love it. And does Shepherd Book always call young women "little girl" and I've just never noticed? Cause that was damn annoying. ? Glad I didn't waste an audible credit on this one.
This puts the romp in space romp with that signature Firefly western bent. What I expected and not half bad for the pulp and spin-off that it is!
Always fun exploring the verse with the Firefly crew! Glad we have some books to carry us through.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was an ok backstory of Shepherd Book, but it was a bit odd. It was told in a backwards fashion, and there wasn't a lot of meat to the story. The art was decent. Overall, it was a very short not bad way to pass a little time, but it's not something I'd seek out.
Book 1/2 finished for #20in4 (easy finish at 59 pages)

Opening line: "You know you got one of them upside-down faces?""
#SummerSpecial Day 12: #Firefly July has 36 sparkles divided across the four seasons of the year. I marveled at Janeczko‘s selections and how each one seemed to feed on the other, creating a trail of fleeting, transient beauty that captures a mood, a feeling, the smell of rain.
