so-soMy #girlybookclub book for October - not one I‘d have picked up on my own and while it was fine, the cast of characters goes beyond unlikeable and I found it to be a little too much of a reach.
Got through most of this during #OutstandingOctober but not quite all so I ended with 3.9/4 books finished.
pickWhile the rest of my #girlybookclub didn‘t enjoy this nearly as much as I did, I thought this was one of our better reads this year. I liked how the story flipped back and forth in time without spending too much time in the present before giving you more of the story from the past. The characters had such depth and complicated histories, it was just a lovely story to read.
My #NovemberTBR! I had a really good October so I‘m not feeling terribly daunted by what November holds - several library holds, my #GirlyBookClub pick, the #pemberlittens current read, my #mummydaughterbookclub book, the last #heycarrots that I haven‘t picked up yet, the #agathachristieclubr2, four more books as I try to #readmyowndamnbooks and only a few leftovers from last month!
Fall is here! I‘ve got a massive #OctoberTBR but I‘m on vacation after tomorrow so I have high hopes! Many of these are #pemberlittens reads but I‘ve got a couple of exciting library holds that have come in, my #flaviabuddyread, two for #heycarrots, the next #agathachristieclubr2, my #girlybookclub book, a couple of #15books15weeks stragglers and lots of leftovers from previous months. Bring on the cool weather, it‘s perfect for reading!
pickMixed feelings about this month‘s #GirlyBookClub pick - a few felt it was just ridiculous, some found it hysterically funny, others thought more depth would have made it a better book. The best discussion are always when we don‘t agree!
so-soThe #GirlyBookClub met in person! It was lovely to see some of the ladies but the book was a bit of a dud. I would have liked a bit more development in the relationship with Chloe‘s sisters and a little less speeding through the relationship with Red (this whole book was like... two weeks?!)
pickI really enjoyed the writing but the plot wasn‘t quite for me. But as always, it was a fun conversation with the #GirlyBookClub
As I was trucking around, collecting books for my #JulyTBR, EDP said to me “That‘s a lot, even for you.” He‘s not wrong. So many leftovers from a bad June, a couple of #HeyCarrots reads to catch up, my #GirlyBookClub and #FlaviaBuddyRead books for July, the #Potteraday, a bunch of #15Books15Weeks to get me back on track, a couple of #PemberLittens books and one that I added to the stack cause why not?!
pickAnother virtual meeting for the Guelph #GirlyBookClub. Lots of interesting opinions on this book - for me, I would have liked more depth, it felt like some significant parts of her life were overlooked, like her relationship with her siblings.
