This is a very peculiar crime novel set in Harlem in the 1950s (it also written in the 1950s). It starts off with a fraud ment to steal a chest of gold, and it goes on to be a rollercoster of adventures.

Plenty of violence in here, and still the storytelling is so humourous and surreal it creates a world that is at times even endearing.

I really enjoyed it

Well, apparently, there arent many #MrBlueSky on my shelves. But everything is blue in this cover, so it should apply 😆

I haven't read Funke yet, and truth be told, l read a lot less kid fiction now than when l bought this book. But the conceotvis nice, so sooner or later l'll get to it fir sure.

Luigi Alfredo Ricciardi is a police detective in 1920s Naples... and he sees ghosts.
He can see a dead person how he/she was a moments before dying and hear their last words. That's non as handy as you'd think for a detective and sometimes it rises more questions than it answers.

This is a fantasy story set in a tropical-like country. First of a trilogy.
Complex and believeable political climate, plots, mysteries, lots of humour. It's a very different steampunk with likable characters and lots of action.

So happy l gave The Hobbit #OneMoreTry
When l read it the first time as a teenager, l didn't think much of it. I thought it was quite childish and l preferred other fantasy storie.

The as an adult l reread it for an assignment. I remember l was reading the arrival of the dwarves at Bilbo's and kept thinking, "Wait! Wait! This isn't the book l read as a kid. This is absolutely fantastic. I love it! How can this be the same book?"

This is the first book l read by David Gemmell, the one l fell in love with him with. It's a hard fantasy story where a small band of soldiers fight against all hopes on the gate to their homeland against an overwhelming enemy. It was inspired by the Thermopylae historical event.

I'm fascinated with the question of identity, both personal and cultural. Maybe this is why l read so many authors belonging to traditional cultures, who address the relationship between tradition and modernity.
I like to believe one doesn't exclude the other.

David Gemmell is one of my favorit authors and this book is one of my favourite stories by him.
Just loved the idea of the multiverse, of different futures and the way the may shirt. Love so many ideas from this series... and Shannow is just such a complex character. Loved it
