I finished my audio reread a few days ago, but this morning I revisited the postscript to more closely consider Garth‘s discussion of the way writers wrote about WWI and specifically its influence on Tolkien‘s work.
This quote emphasizes one of the key aspects of Tolkien‘s work that I love. Many of his characters are simple people who just keep going and make a difference in their own small ways.

wordslinger42 I wasn‘t able to join in for this one, but I‘m looking forward to reading it at some point! 2mo
Daisey @wordslinger42 It‘s a really good one! I‘ll look forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you get to read it. 2mo
CatLass007 I learned a lot from this book. I‘m going to ask a question that you‘ve probably already answered, but I just can‘t remember. Is there a tag list for this group or should I just use the search function to look for posts? Please write it in big red letters and stamp it on my forehead. 1mo

Daisey @CatLass007 We do usually have a tag list, but I didn‘t do a very good job of keeping track of who wanted to be tagged for this book and also posted very little. 1mo
CatLass007 Okay. Thanks for clarifying that for me. Please consider me on the tag list for everything. I have a lot of Tolkien on audio, but I learned when we read the Silmarillion that having both the audio and the print version of certain books is soooo much better. I liked Letters from Father Christmas last year but that is definitely one best read in print so I‘m gifting it to myself this year. 1mo
Daisey I will and thanks for mentioning Father Christmas. It reminded me to post about rereading for this year. 1mo
