Pickpick

This was a reread for me. I was surprised at how much I didn‘t remember, but I greatly enjoyed getting reacquainted with this book. It links Celtic mythology with Greek and Roman mythology in a way that we know now is inaccurate, but the stories embedded within this book is enough to pique interest in the original stories.

This is probably the one thing I remember about this book from my previous read. It stood out when I read it last time and I stood out again this time. This concept has helped me in every other book I‘ve read about Irish history. There is a mythology to all of it, even the stuff that happened just a generation ago, or in the 1990s.

I read this once as part of this massive summer reading list during grad school. K naturally remember NONE of it. Now I look forward to enjoying it.

Melismatic Seems cool! I was doing a family tree project a while back and found a lot of relatives of mine were named Bridget/ Brigid so it got me interested in the mythos behind the name. Hope it‘s fun for you! 5y
GingerAntics @Melismatic that‘s a popular name in Ireland because the church took over the entity as a saint. She‘s the other patron saint of Ireland. I think she‘s in the “mother goddesses” chapter. 5y
