The first one-third of the book was kinda slow because it was busy building and introducing the world. Once I got used to Japanese names and knew some characters' background, it picked up the pace. In the last few chapters I read so furiously didn't even notice I was getting close to the end!

It felt a lot like some dark, supernatural period manga. I bit too dark at some point but overall a satisfying read.

I cried my eyes out. It's my first King (don't be surprised!) and I already fell in love. The horror and fantasy part was vivid but what struck me most was his struggle, writing to the world, to make it a better place. He broke my heart with grief and healed in with love and then broke it again. ❤💔❤️ I can't wait to start The Dark Tower series!
