I completed my 2021 Goodreads goal of 45 books so I am happy with that 🙌 I read 34 physical books and 11 ebooks and I enjoyed all of them! My first read of 2021 was a reread of The Green Mile and my last read for the year was The Troop by Nick Cutter. My 2022 goals are to aim for 45 books again, go on a book buying ban for a few months and continue to read all the unread books on my shelves.

I READ A BOOK. Stephen King gets me out of any funk. Different than some of his other works, but really enjoyable still. His character writing is always very vivid for me. #wintergames #teamgamesleighers

The Green Mile by Stephen King

Does anyone else try to match their bookmark to their book? This pretty floral card is too bright and cheery for this creepy book but, since it‘s not what I‘m usually into, I don‘t have anything that goes better with it. Maybe this is my own weird obsession. I‘m just wondering 🤷‍♀️

An absolutely fantastic book which I loved! It is definitely not for the faint hearted, and is sure to bring you to tears and make you smile at times. I liked the descriptions (even if some made me feel a bit ill at times) and the characters. I loved the writing style as it's being told as an actual story. I loved how this book makes you question right and wrong, good and evil, and does not back down when it comes to perspectives.

This is the story of Paul Edgecombe, superintendent in a state penitentiary at Cold Mountain populated with inmates sentenced to death in an electric chair (Old Sparky). This is about what happened in 1932 during the execution of John Coffey.
Great book! Novel with some supernatural elements expected in Mr. King‘s novels, it describes correctional operations, institutionalized staff behavior, injustice and social issues. 4.3⭐️

Sleepswithbooks This was a great read and perfect for those who want to experience Stephen King without “gore” (not me - haha). I kept picturing the characters from the movie as I read it though. I wonder if it would have been a different experience if I hadn‘t seen the movie first (which was awesome- cast was amazing!!). 9mo
bthegood I agree @Sleepswithbooks good book for someone who wants to read King book without gore- great King book to showcase his writing and storytelling abilities in a non-horror genre - I saw movie and pictured people as well, although this is one movie that followed the book so closely - I thoroughly enjoyed this read - 9mo

@BkClubCare came up with a schedule for our #GreenMileAlong. The book is split into 6 parts. Today we‘re at the end of the 1st. I thought the writing was so very King. The way he brings the staff & prisoners to life makes you feel like you‘re in that world. It‘s already hard to put down! I wasn‘t a mom the 1st time I read it. It‘s much harder to read about the girls being murdered.
Pt 1: 4-6

I‘m about halfway through The Green Mile. I had forgotten that there are several scenes with our main character in the future as an old man; what I remember most is the story he‘s telling about his days working on death row. Wow, I'm speechless.

King does what he always does best. The story telling and overall character development is absolutely brilliance as usual.

It's full of suspense and raw emotions

I think John Coffey has become one of my favourite King characters.

I‘m listening to this for the #LosersClub buddy read of Stephen King books. I last read it when it first came out in serial form, and I liked it a lot. Often, though, I forget the order of events; this book begins in a different place than I remember. My azaleas are blooming nicely, so I suspect we‘ll have a late freeze where they‘ll die a quick death. #audiowalk

TheNeverendingTBR Looks like a peaceful place to go for a walk Kathy, I should have The Green Mile finished today; it's been an excellent read! 😌 10mo
KathyWheeler @TheNeverendingTBR My university has a pretty extensive natural trail around it, and it‘s a really nice place to walk. I have a terrible sense of direction so I‘m afraid to go too far into them where I can‘t see the road. They have signs and maps, but still I‘m sure I could get lost. I probably won‘t finish it today since I‘m listening on walks. Is this the first time you‘ve read it? (edited) 10mo

💛💛💛💛💛 Green Mile has always been one of my favourite films (helped by my love of the absolute legend that is Tom Hanks) so was so hopeful this book would be as good as the film and it did not disappoint. It was brilliantly written, dark at some points and not too much of a supernatural element. Loved it, I am now a Stephen King fan!

Buechersuechtling 👏🏼 “My plan was to read 200 books. I did 440. 😄” – whenever I read such numbers I am feeling a mixture of bad and jealous. You people who manage to read so many books, how do you _do_ that❓ Is the trick to read small and tiny books❓Or are you reading faster❓ Or does your day have more hours❓ If it‘s the latter possibility, where did you get your extra day-hours hours from❓ I plan to go there and check their offers, too. 🙃 13mo
