No Picnic on Mount Kenya | Felice Benuzzi

Right #bookreport and #weeklyforecast for #hiselderliness (Mr 87 who just decided to become a bookworm at 83 - never give up on those non-readers!)

I deliver his latest load of library books. “That book!” He says shaking his head. “Wasn‘t it good?” I ask. “It kept me up all night reading it!” he says. 😂
That‘s a 5 star then for the Mount Kenya book. 🙌🙌The other three just joined the To be Read pile.

Centique @JennyM thanks Jenny! 😘 5d
AlaMich I love your Dad book reports! My dad is sort of the opposite. He used to be a serious reader but now only occasionally. 5d

TrishB I love the fact that books are keeping him up 😁 5d
Crazeedi @Centique so great, makes my heart smile! 5d
Reagan Oh boy, if he likes The Wave, she wrote another book that is my favourite! 5d
Centique @AlaMich how interesting - I hope it‘s because he‘s busy doing other things he likes. 😍Or is it maybe health related, making reading hard? ☹️ 5d
Centique @TrishB I think this is the first time he‘s had that happen! 5d
Centique @Crazeedi aww that‘s lovely 😛😘 5d
Centique @Reagan thanks! That‘s a great recc 😘 5d
Cinfhen Love the sticker 🥰and such an endorsement #stacked 5d
AlaMich @Centique Yeah, about 7 years ago he had a pretty serious brain injury from a fall. He made a remarkable recovery, but his attention span was compromised. 5d
Centique @AlaMich oh the poor thing! My mother also had a brain injury (lack of oxygen after a cardiac arrest) and didn‘t read again after that. She got most things back but not reading and not listening to music strangely. It‘s really tough. Love to you & your family 💕 5d
AlaMich @Centique Likewise! 😊 5d

How do you know you grew up in Australia? The phrase “She pokes fingers down mouse holes...” makes a portion of your brain screech “Nooooo...funnel web!!!!” 🤦🏻‍♀️😂🤦🏻‍♀️

At the hair dresser. Sometimes, life.... 😶. India was polluted. We got sick. Coughing in Singapore at the moment sends people into a panic so we stayed home until getting the news that a very close friend had died suddenly so I‘m heading unexpectedly home. Chaos. Sad chaos.

Megabooks I‘m so sorry. 💕 6d

Nothing could be further from my interests than mountaineering and slapstick British parody/comedy. It speaks volumes about this classic that I genuinely adored this gem - and loved the unlikely funny yet somehow genuine characters. I was attracted to it thanks to the gorgeous new hardbound version I found at Hatchards (don‘t judge me for judging a book by its cover!)

The Climb: Tragic Ambitions on Everest | Anatoli Boukreev, G. Weston DeWalt

Having read «Into Thin Air» by Jon Krakauer I felt it was necessary to understand Anatoli Boukreev‘s side of the story. I am so glad I did! Not only is it fascinating to read an account from the Mountain Madness perspective but the pieces of the story have now fallen into place in an entirely different way. I am sad it took me so many years to read this book. The Anatoli Boukreev perspective deserves to be heard.

Nothing like a good mountaineering epic from the best American climber.

This was a great read! It‘s inspiring! It‘s also nice to be able to take some time and read! It‘s been a while since I have finished books or read this much in a day.
