My sun sign is Capricorn (on the cusp of Aquarius). My moon sign is Aries, & my rising sign is Sagittarius. The descriptions never seem to match my temperament, though!

I‘m not ambitious or pragmatic; business-like or practical. I‘m not bold, energetic or action-oriented. I wouldn‘t say I‘m fiery or reckless. I do enjoy the search for meaning, however. And I definitely need a creative outlet!

What does it all mean?

BethM What's a rising sign? (edited) 6y
monalyisha @BethM your rising = “the energies you project into the world. It‘s often the way you look and how you present yourself.” “The moon, conversely, is all about your emotional feels. It‘s how you process and digest information internally. It‘s your past and your memories and parts of your childhood.” “Meanwhile, the sun is your identity—your more “egoic” sense of self.” (edited) 6y

Billypar I'm 1/18, and I don't think I'm many of those traits either ☺️ Even though I don't believe in astrology, I just finished The Luminaries and it made me more interested in learning about it 🌌 6y
monalyisha @Billypar I can‘t say I really believe in it, either... but I think it‘s a ton of fun! If you‘re 1/18, you‘re closer to the cusp than I am, & from what I‘ve read about the cusp, it seems to work a little better for me. 🌚 Moon & rising signs both rely upon the year/time of your birth. Are you ‘86, too? 6y
KristinaRay @Billypar When you are looking at your sun sign only (which most mass market horoscope are based on) it almost will never seem very accurate. An astrological chart figures all the planets at time of birth which gives a fuller picture. I‘m fascinated with how spot on a chart can be after years of reading horoscopes. 6y
BethM @monalyisha thanks! It's a tad creepy how close mine are to my personality traits. My moon sign fits the least, but even there it hits a few points. 6y
KristinaRay One of the things I feel “hurts” the image of both astrology and tarot is the focus on foretelling the future. ( that isn‘t necessarily what it‘s for, though it can be used that way) And also the idea that we are bound by our “fate”. These things should bring us insight not make us feel trapped or pigeonholed. 6y
Billypar @monalyisha @KristinaRay Ah yes, the year...I seem to be leaving that out of birthday discussions more and more 😂 I'm 1982. And I think around 10 pm. 6y
monalyisha @KristinaRay I think my default tends to be, “I don‘t believe in xyz (where x is aliens, y is ghosts, & z is astrology - for instance 😉) — but it‘s probably because I don‘t know enough.” 🙃 Always so much more to learn! (edited) 6y
KristinaRay @monalyisha Being the eternal optimist that I am, my default tends to be: I seriously entertain the idea unless it can be disproven one way or the other. Hence, why I‘m still on the fence about Santa Claus. 😉. ( I‘m really not as gullible as I just made myself sound 😂) 6y
monalyisha @KristinaRay Sometimes I decide to “believe” in something because it sounds more beautiful than not believing. I feel you, girl! 6y
monalyisha @KristinaRay Agnostics unite! Maybe... 😅 6y
monalyisha @KristinaRay #ProbablyNotButMaybe vs #ProbablyButMaybeNot = the new “Is the glass half empty or half full?” 😆 (edited) 6y
Clare-Dragonfly Oh, this is interesting! I have no idea if it means anything, but my sun is in Libra (which I knew), moon is in Virgo (my sister is a Virgo), ascendant is Cancer (my best friend is a Cancer), and MC is Pisces (my husband and son are both Pisces). 6y
