The Road Trip | Beth O'Leary

Good. Follows two people who used to date and how they bump into each other and are forced to spend time together, whilst also dealing with friends and family on a long road trip. Shows how they broke up and that everything was not what it seemed and how they deal with the truth.

Good. Even though at first the main character seemed not very likable I held on and was very pleased with her eventual redemption. Full of wonderful descriptions of the scenery around which made me feel like I was in Italy and feeling the sun on my face. Full of the usual Rebecca Serle magic and wonder.

Good. Nice to see a main character who is normally pushed to the sidelines because she is an elderly person. Loved the way that it shows that they still have life in them and that they have plenty to teach us.

Fabulous prose under the form of correspondance between two lovers separated not only by space but also by time ⭐ an overwhelming avalanche of emotions ⭐ to be read only when in a happy state of mind ⭐

This should have been an ARC from #Quercus but after a COVID outbreak at my local Royal Mail Sorting Office I‘m just getting post from last month. Part: romance, horror, memoir, crime and thriller in this novel Reed Petty asks is “who gets to pick the genre”, the book comes in a choice of four fabulous covers. (I chose horror!)

Good. Interesting characters and concept. Some of the ideas in this book are darker than the cover suggests such as mental health issues which have developed from the abuse that is Gaslighting so it may trigger some readers.
