pickI saw the Dutch film of this book a few years ago, which was an impetus to get the novel when I saw it. Well, novel is pushing it a bit: at 115 pages of large-font, double-spaced text, this chilling psychological thriller is really a short story or novella. Anyway, there are no gory details of what happened to the "vanished" woman, but the effects of her disappearance on her boyfriend and views into the mind of the perpetrator are gripping. 4/5?
