#TheyAreMyJoy

I think Marie would have a serious issue at my house 😂 To have me pick up each book and decide if it brings me joy would backfire on her end.

#KeepALLthebooks #TheyAreMyJoy #YesIAlreadyHaveAnEReader #Paperback4Life

LauraBeth 😂😂 Last night the husband and I were trying to find something to watch together and he paused at this while reading the description and I was saying the following panicky words in my head: “Please no, please no, please no...” I was so relieved when he didn‘t hit play 😂 I am NOT throwing out my books! And she would have given the husband ammunition. 6y
MotionChickness @LauraBeth Lol!! I am in the same boat! I know my boyfriend has gotten whiff of this and I am anticipating “the talk” when I see him later. We‘re planning on moving in together soon and the books have come up several times 😂😅. It‘s just not happening. 6y
MotionChickness @LauraBeth I‘m not sure how many times I can use the “happy wife happy life” phrase (girlfriend in my case)... and emphasize that the books are the happy 😂 6y

Weaponxgirl I think I‘d just throw the heaviest one at whoever‘s head it was that was just trying to make me get rid of them. Probably a cookbook (edited) 6y
MotionChickness @Weaponxgirl Ohhh cookbooks are the best for that... Not speaking from experience or anything 😂😂. And, book throwing would make for good television and get a point across! They bring joy, and protection against negativity. 😂😂 #HalfSeriouslyJoking 6y
Weaponxgirl @Stephuhhnieee lmao! Part of my insane collection of stuff at home to keep me entertained (books, vinyl, board games, colouring books ect) has always been because I have basically always been broke in my life as an adult (carer) and therefore when I‘ve only just had enough to make rent and bills I‘ve been able to stay in for months at a time without it being would destroying as I have stuff to do at home 6y
Weaponxgirl A part of me has always had a problem with minimalists who say if you need it again just buy it again. Not everyone can do that, some of us are broke through no fault of our own damnit! 6y
Pruzy Just make sure touch the books first to activate them or something before deciding whether they spark joy 🤷‍♂️ 6y
MotionChickness @Weaponxgirl I hear you!!! Single mother here! So not only do I rarely have time to go out, I can‘t really afford to do much anyway. Books are my way of going out, and my way of spoiling myself.... And having a physical library of books I have enjoyed is beyond comforting, and cozy, to me. 6y
MotionChickness @Weaponxgirl And to follow that up, thank god for used bookstores and library sales! 6y
Weaponxgirl @Stephuhhnieee oh yea! I get all of my physical books from charity shops and the odd outlet shop. Same with everything I own really! And if someone doesn‘t have books on display how can I possibly get a feel for the sort of person they are? 6y
MotionChickness @Weaponxgirl Yess! If I have a new book it was either gifted or bought with a gift card; otherwise my library is used. And I agree! I look at someone‘s bookshelf to understand who they are.. what they like... what we can connect on or talk about. It gives new meaning to “being an open book.” 6y
MotionChickness @Weaponxgirl And to tie this back to Marie and her “what brings you joy...” I have many books I hated that I won‘t get rid of. They taught me lessons, or they express exactly what I‘m against. And I hope one day my kid(s), or friends or whomever, will pick up the books and learn and grow and shape themselves from the stories. The point being that they are readily available for that opportunity. (edited) 6y
elyseh I couldnt do it!!! 30 books no way!! 6y
MotionChickness @elyseh lol! I haven‘t read the book but I heard that was a misquote 😅 Apparently 30 is her preference... but if you have more than 30 that make you happy then by all means keep them. But as I said in previous comments, I have books that didn‘t and don‘t bring joy, but I keep them for the sake of the moral taught in the book 😬 6y
