Extraordinary account, showing the intimate lives of women of the medieval times and how they navigate a conservative society. Narrated brilliantly by a vibrant narrator. Listening to this book made me realise just how little things have changed in terms of women‘s consent, agency, safety, legal rights and perceived moral expectations from women today. It is both sobering and also a unique thread that binds women across time and geography.

With beautiful illustrations and storytelling, this Polacco book is about young Clara Barton, the youngest Barton child. She was cared for mostly by her older brother David; the 2 of them forming a solid relationship. She became a healer for both animals and humans. As an adult she founded the Red Cross❤️.

4 ⭐This book chronicles Sophie Blanchard, the first woman to go solo in a hot air balloon. She was one of the first female aeronauts. Little is known of her life before marrying Jean Pierre Blanchard, a famous aerialist of the time. This is a great beginning look at woman who dared to do what many thought only men could do. Finding out that Sophie died so young, due to a fire and a fall from her balloon, is heartbreaking but also real.

She Persisted by Chelsea Clinton tell the tale of 13 American women who have made a difference around the world. This book uses real life stories to introduce young children to women who have continued to break barriers. This book helps to empower females to step out of the box and create the change they wanna see in the world.
