As much as I loved the last book I read, there were a lot of sad moments. I‘m in need of a palate cleanser and since “The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear” did that for me, I‘m finally going to read book 2 in the Zamonia series. I read that you don‘t have to read these books in order, but it‘s ideal because there are surprises that are more enjoyable when you‘ve read the previous books 😁
A very short letter-like telling of how Christm… ehm Hamoulimepp is celebrated in the Lindwurmfeste (no idea how to translate that 🤯). This is a fine criticism of our overboarding Christmas celebrations and shopping-mania thrown in together with some leftover ideas about Zamonia. I liked it!!! 🚪🐲🏰
This (his)story of the Zamonian Christmas comes along with taxonomy plates of the some described things or animals. Like most of the Walter Moers books, they are beautifully illustrated. 🎨🎨🎨
I don‘t know why the other review have been this bad. I didn‘t expect this novel to be a Zamonien one and I read the repetitions and lists of words as an expression of the sleeplessness of Princess Insomnia. I mean what what else would you do if you couldn‘t sleep for 18 nights in a row? Maybe I liked because I have a liking for languages and their varieties. The only thing the came a little bit abrupt was the ending.
I always like the Walter Moers books because hhey are always beautifully illustrated. The paintings in this one are even coloured, normally the drawings are only black and white.
1. Lately I‘ve been into seltzers, specifically High Noon. They‘re low calorie and don‘t give me acid reflux lol.
2. Tagged. Such a fun read!

Anyone who feels like playing, consider yourself tagged!
I had no idea that both of these were such chunksters!! 975 for the tagged and almost 700 for The Book of Elsewhere! These will keep me busy for awhile 🤣
How do you even describe the experience of reading this book? It's completely unique. Like an adult children's fantasy book all about books and authors. If you haven't heard of it, check out the book summary and read some of the reviews. This is very beloved by a lot of people. The writing style is so creative and imaginative. The creatures, book titles, and made up words are fun. It seemed a bit long, so 4 stars from me. Definitely worth reading!
Captain Bluebear is the luckiest bear in all the universes and in all the dimensions. Or, depending on your perspective, he‘s the unluckiest. He seems to always find himself in the worst predicaments, but then finds a way out in either the cleverest (or luckiest) of ways. This is a chunky book full of adventure, whimsy, humor, and silliness. There are creatures and places you‘ve heard of, and many you‘ve never heard of before… (continued ⬇️)
