Well. 🫣
This is my 2nd “for adults” Judy & while I liked it more than the other, it did feel like chaos personified and not in a popcorn way. I look at this as a more accessible Stepford Wives or Valley of the Dolls…or at least sits at a table with them as subversive accounts of life for women during second wave feminism.
But holy moly, so much smut. 🫣 (And TW: some not great depictions of POC.)

A slim novel that manages to pack a lot into its few pages. A woman is chosen to be part of jury that ends up sequestered due to the high profile of the case. The trial isn‘t the only drama unfolding. She is leaving her much older husband alone for the duration of the trial and ends up having an affair with one of the other jurors. A lot of ground is covered and while no easy resolutions are offered every aspect is given its due. Really well done

This was a depressing - though well written - slice of life story. It's about a married woman who starts an affair and how things develop from there. Set in Ireland with the 2007/8 financial crisis as a background.

I whipped through this book in less than a day. The narrator is married to a much older man, and for a couple of weeks finds herself engaging in an affair with a younger man while sequestered for jury duty. It touches on lots of areas - from the ways in which the law works and doesn‘t work, the difficulties of juries, the nature of large age gap relationships, and the fallout of an affair. The author herself was married to a much older man… ⬇️

Former sweethearts Warren and Sarah reconnect in their early 60s and fall in love again. But Warren is still married, and has to choose between Sarah and his family. A soft pick. It treads a very fine line between carefully observed & dull. It also has one of the most annoying characters I've experienced in a while. And having read the reviews on here, I went in prepared for a shocking ending. And actually, the ending worked for me. 👇

I really enjoyed the start of this one , but it didn‘t hold my interest. The ending , which was mentioned in Litsy posts , was the only reason I read on. I didn‘t like the ending either. It just didn‘t make sense to me. Not a pick for me , definitely a so-so.

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

I loved this book, about two high-school sweethearts who broke up due to a misunderstanding and meet again in their 60s.
I‘d highly recommend it, with only one caveat - the ending is really odd and should probably come with a trigger / content warning but can‘t say why, because spoiler.
Also, the UK cover just makes no sense - the book‘s about 60 year olds and this just doesn‘t relate at all. 🤷♀️

Warren and Sarah were college lovers and they reconnect decades later. She‘s divorced but he‘s still married, unhappily but with a strong moral fiber. What are these star-crossed lovers to do? Up until the last six pages I loved this book, making it a soft pick. Hours later I‘m still shaking my head at the ending.
