I am not a fan of parenting books or books made for parents. The advice in them is usually either obvious (at best) or disturbing and dangerous (at worst). They also tend to be mindblowingly sexist. There are a handful I have liked, though and several of them are independently published, including this one. Solid look at what it means to be black in America and resisting the status quo. Well researched. Good historical as well as modern instances of anti-blackness used. Only complaint, it's a survey type of book so it's quite short. #akpress #blackinamerica
