Sometimes we need stories of people in a huge universe to focus on the small, everyday things that make us human.

If you like the stories of Festus traveling the universe in Startripper having fun adventures with new cultures, you should give the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers a shot.

Fascinating world building, feel-good stories paired with serious stories with more intimate stakes than the whole universe.

If you‘ve enjoyed one, I think you‘ll enjoy the other. I listen to a lot of podcasts and audiobooks at work, and I‘ve been sharing books that I felt pair up nicely with the podcasts. 6y

Six Wakes | Mur Lafferty

A group of clones with memory problems have to solve the mystery of what‘s happened to them all while dealing with a sometimes helpful, sometimes really, REALLY not helpful AI.

Is this the plot to amazing post-apocalyptic podcast Project Nova? Yes, but it is also the outline for equally amazing space mystery book Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty.

Both stories are fascinating, twisty mysteries, and worth a listen!

Do I have the book for you! Well, series, really.

"Swords, Sorcery, and Stealth" by Drew Hayes, currently at four books, checks all these boxes and has a fantastic narrator to boot!

Working as a data conversion operator means that, 40 to 60 hours a week, it's me, the computer, and my iPod. So, I've listened to a lot of stuff. Like, a lot a lot.

So I thought this year, I'd try something.

I'll recommend a book that made me think of a podcast I've enjoyed. It may be because of characters, setting, or theme.

I've got a few planned, so through the year I'll post and tag it #bookcast2019. I hope y'all find something new to try!
