Mustaches for Maddie | Chad Morris, Shelly Brown

Pickpick

This MG novel is based on a true story about Maddie who was diagnosed for a brain tumor. Maddie uses mustaches to make her friends smile as well as give her courage. When she starts to notice that her left arm and leg are acting different she think it is just because she is growing. When her parents take her to the doctor they found out she has a brain tumor. When she wakes up from surgery her friends have started a hashtag and take pictures 👇🏻

This is a middle grade book about a quirky 12 year old fond of novelty mustaches diagnosed with a growth near her brain. I think this would be a great book to give a tween/teen going though difficult medical procedures. It was a nice book, but not necessarily something I would recommend for adult readers

Read on this recommendation...but now I understand why it was at the Dollar Tree. Finished it, still with no idea what it was actually about 🤷‍♀️ #DisappointingRead

Loved most of the book. A little preachy at times.

I enjoyed this memoir about a girl who never quite fit in. In the end she learns that fitting in isn‘t really all that important.

This is summer book club‘s August book. Anyone here read it? It‘s definitely offbeat so far.

This book, told from the perspective of Maddie, doesn't just focus on the big C. Although it was an important part of the story. It also includes friendship, including others, and a touch on bullying.
