This is the ickiest scene out of all the books and I almost lost my #willtosurvive just reading it. So good on Harry and Hermione for their resourceful desperation. I shouldn't make jokes--Harry's parents' self sacrifice is now shown in all its terrifying reality. Harry discovers the whole story. What will be the consequence of this? And hopefully, they have more secrets uncovered...

Really, the only times Harry and Dumbledore argue are those moments when their #perception of people differ. Snape and Draco are often at the centre. Once again Tom Riddle's life story diverges from our assumptions of him. Seeing events, places and people in different situations can really change perspectives.

This chapter covers a lot of stuff in one day. The decree, the injury to Hedwig, Draco's cruel words, Snape's inspection, and Sirius nearly found out were all dealt with quickly. Sometimes Rowling lingers on events but here, we skim over them. Perhaps at this point, she realised how much more she still had to say. Whatever it is, I just love this picture of Harry his friend.

There's service, obedient and cordial, and then there's service to Dumbledore. We are told always what a great man he is, but that's it--we are told. Of course he's great, but to have seen him in his glory. Wouldn't that have been a sight?
