The front door to my house has this window that throws pretty light prisms and sometimes when I am reading on the couch it is beautifully distracting.

A bit slow to start, but once they got going I loved being along for the ride! I love these YA homages to Sherlock Holmes and the way they highlight complicated people doing their best to get through difficult, confusing times. Dark and a bit sad, but ultimately rewarding. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #19822022 @Librarybelle

The Hummingbird | Sandro Veronesi

This was a bit of an up and down. There were many scenes I liked and enjoyed, but there were maybe just as many pages where I felt bored and my thoughts were drifting off. Overall I got the feeling Veronesi wanted to write a new Leopard, which of course doesn't work. He just tried too hard. If he'd focused more on his own strengths, the book woud've turned out pretty good...

I find that it's best to reread favorite books in particularly stressful times.

Half commentary, half original Rilke compositions. It‘s a slim volume and, yet, it took me ages to finish reading.

Bookwormjillk I love that blue cover. 9h
batsy Need to get my hands on this! I'm currently reading this by Rilke and I love it so much. 6h

‘Understanding all the ways fear stands in the way of our knowing love challenges us.Fearful that believing in love‘s truths and letting them guide our lives will lead to further betrayal,we hold back from love when our hearts are full of longing.Being loving does not mean we will not be betrayed.Love helps us face betrayal without losing heart. And it renews our spirit so we can love again‘

A big 2021 life lesson.

#20in4 readathon this weekend, yay! This book (looking so much prettier now that I got the giant sale price sticker off it!) is my physical book to finish, I'm a third through. Then I have 4 ebooks on the go, which is tooo many, so I'd like to finish at least 3 of them. I'll probably start a new audiobook too since I don't have one started right now.

Not setting a time goal, I'll be happy if I can finish 4/5 of my currently reading.

This was definitely a beautiful song, but I felt as if it should be a short story the entire time I was reading it. I understand the length speaks to the captivity, but, especially given the quick epilogue, I feel it would have been better expressed as a short story. Still a pick for me; lots of beautiful thoughts here.

Looking for Alaska | John Green

John Green deserves another applause. This book was so good. So satisfyingly good. Every element of it was almost perfectly done, the characterization, the character development of our mc, just fantastic. And it was so beautifully written as well, there were so many powerful lines that just left me speechless. I loved the element of bringing Miles's religion class into things, tying what he learned in there to what he learned in life. Amazing.
