pickI recommended this book to my book group because I loved it so much the first time I read it. I then reread it, petrified that I wouldn‘t love it as much as the first time. I need not have worried, I loved it *more.* This story about American missionaries in China in the early 20th century pouring out their lives in sacrifice to heal the bodies and souls of strangers on the other side of the world is balm for my own soul.
