I‘m on a roll, one good book after another! One old black and white photo causes Hannah to return to London from Australia. As we get to know her, we meet past generations of her family, who they were, how they lived. Her boyfriend Max seems so great, but he‘s a ghost from the very beginning, and as we learn about her past, he does as well. It‘s a sad story, but made quite the impression.

BarbaraBB Yes! I loved this one as well! And you‘re definitely on a roll! 1d
Ruthiella I will definitely pick this up at some point. I really liked 23h

A sweet simple memoir, it read like a friend sharing their story. I really liked the casualness and honesty of the book, Nothing that I'm gonna remember for years to come, just a simple quick read.

After getting fired Jasmine has one year of gardening leave to figure out her life among other things. Matt, her neighbour is in kind of a similar situation and decides to come home drunk every night. They strike a unique friendship all this while which helps them move ahead in their lives.
Feel-good, quick paced, simple characters, and a sweet story overall. The cover is just really cute and was the reason I picked the book
4/5🌟

“It takes a village to mend a broken heart”

A witty, funny, heartbreaking and heartwarming memoir of Dolly Alderton set in her 20s. This book is not preachy, it‘s just fun and light and full of funny anecdotes. The best thing about the whole book is her unwavering love and solidarity for all her female friends, especially her best friend Farly.

Sorry to my hive, haven‘t posted any haikus since Friday. Rough weekend. So glad I have this outlet and I also so enjoy what everyone shares. 💛🐝🖤

This was inspired by 3 a.m. thoughts about how many different types of love there are (imo) & how you can‘t put it into one box. There are so many different types of love. ❤️

It‘s complicated
and can‘t be put in one box.
Love is many things.

So I hate-read the rest of it. This was DIRE.

Terrible characters making even worse decisions. Completely non-believable situations. Zero character growth, something that is essential in a young-adult series that ends in adulthood. No introspection. And for a series that bills itself a “romance“, having the final getting-together part take place completely off-screen was ... certainly a choice.

Vansa This was such a bad book. I still forced myself to read it. I thought Jeremiah's changing to a Chad was really badly done, Conrad is always awful to Isabel, and Jere is always kind. But if course ,the “ bad boy“ has win! 1d
Lauredhel @Vansa My disbelief started when they were all “we've been together two years, we love each other, we sleep in each other's beds at college all the time, but heavens to betsy obviously we haven't had S E X“

A two-sentence review said, “It‘s gorgeously written. I wish I hadn‘t read it.” I don‘t know if I can improve upon that! Except, I don‘t really wish I‘d skipped it.

The story is devastatingly predictable. I don‘t mean that the book is disappointing, just that the repeated patterns in our past & in our present are. The story is not unique. The characters are alive — until they‘re not (& too soon). I can‘t believe it didn‘t end in the springtime.

BkClubCare Oh dear, I am already crying. Do I need to read this for a time I need a good cry?!😭 3d
willaful I've written pretty much that same review a time or two... 3d
monalyisha @BkClubCare Ohh, no. It didn‘t feel like a cleansing cry. Do the opposite: read it when you‘re feeling strong! 3d
