This was just so lovely and a phenomenal debut. It covers a lot in 661 pages--a coming of age that seems like a fluffy, relationship novel that also hits hard on gender and racial power dynamics. There was a little about the ending that didn't hit right, but definitely glad I finally picked it up. About time!!

I think this is a good time to talk about the side story, which is well highlighted and easy to follow in the #audiobook.

There is a large cat roaming through Ohio and PA. Sometimes you are in her head as she slips past an increasing number of hunters to try to find her cubs.

Of course there are parallels b/t the MC and the cat. Both are mothers frantically trying to protect their young from increasing levels of violence in their worlds. ⬇️⬇️

Megabooks @Cinfhen since I listen at 2.0, mostly, to get my goal of 7.5 hours of book a day, I probably listen a little over 4 hours, which is pretty average for me on a typical day. I haven‘t really changed my overall listening time per day or habits, I‘m just listening to a longer book. How many hours do you usually listen per day? (edited) 4y

Cinfhen I listen at 1x or 1.2x and usually between 4/6 hours probably closer to 4/5. So it would take me about 3 weeks of listening!! That seems like a BIG commitment 😝 4y

Hey! So I‘m not quite where I want to be today. I was hoping to only have 15 hours left, but I‘m still reasonably on track to finish in a week.

Big news today in Ducks was getting trapped in a flash flood at the mall with the kids. At first, she was afraid that she‘d have to bed down in the mattress store, but Ronnie, the annoying chicken feed supplier, saved the day.

Megabooks @BarbaraBB same here, a bit. I could easily read 4-5 audiobooks in the time it will take me to finish this, but I‘m a big #chunksteravoider, especially since I don‘t usually read genres (like fantasy) that have a lot. I‘m using this as an exercise of going outside my comfort zone! I usually don‘t read audiobooks longer than 13 hours or books more than 450 pages, which is about the same thing. (I think the print DN must have small font!) 4y

ChasingOm I think it sounds like audiobook might be the way to go with this one. Even though it‘s loooong, I feel like the stream of consciousness might feel more rewarding if you‘re actually hearing it. 🤔 4y
