I am DETERMINED to finish these two books in the next 24 hours!! My reading has been so disjointed this year so far.

Does anyone have tips on improving concentration?? It‘s just never been like this. 🤷🏻‍♀️

cherinium I have also had a hard time concentrating on reading lately. I just can't seem to find my groove. I've had a lot of false starts the past 6 weeks or so. I hope you find a way to focus soon! 5y
sixgun I find that when I am unable to keep on with a book, every though I like it, I have to find a feel good book. One of those that you can't put down, but short. Nothing complicated. And then I can go back to the thoughtful, interesting one. I'm loving the book I'm on right now, and I find it fascinating, but by no means is there a gripping story involved to hold my attention. 5y
gradcat @sixgun My problem is that I‘m having trouble finding one that I can‘t put down...I think something is wrong with me—can‘t seem to find one of those propulsive page turners.... 😏 5y

Megabooks @cherinium I hope you do too! Maybe it‘s the winter blahs that have gotten me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It‘s been gray every day lately. 5y
Megabooks @sixgun I‘m thinking about that. It does help! Sometimes a short funny book helps me. Usually Sedaris is good at getting my mojo back but the diary is long and less funny than most of his. 5y
Megabooks @gradcat Yeah, I‘d like one of those as well!! 5y
CouronneDhiver Take the pressure off 5y
sixgun @gradcat since I rarely re-read books sites like these are so helpful to me. But my favorite genre is sci-fi, so I can pick up anything there and be safe if the writer is at least putting sentences together. Biographies are my second favorite and hit and miss, but audio book I do better. With other not-fiction with a subject matter that is interesting, if I just can't get into it, I try to find it on audio-book. If I can walk and listen, I get through the pages. Maybe that would work for you too @Megabooks 5y
Megabooks @sixgun @gradcat Yes! I‘ve switched to nonfiction. There‘s no genre I like. I usually read heavy books when I read fiction, so that‘s out. I ended up buying the second Belinda Blinked book on Kindle. 😂😂😂 I can‘t listen to the podcast. It‘s too dirty for most in my house! We‘ll see how things go. I have the Sedaris on audio too and have been listening a bit. I enjoy his audiobooks. 5y
Megabooks @CouronneDhiver That is a good point. I‘ve been comparing myself to other people on Litsy as far as speed and stuff. Generally, that doesn‘t turn out well. Thanks for the reminder! 😊 5y
gradcat @Megabooks @cherinium @sixgun @CouronneDhiver You guys have some great ideas 👍 💡! It‘s so nice to have other people chime in with help when you‘re stuck. I love nonfiction, too, but my guilty pleasure is mystery...I love a good mystery, especially if it‘s set in another country than my own (US), because I get to sort of travel at the same time! Cheers, everybody! 🍻😍 5y
Megabooks @gradcat @cherinium @sixgun @CouronneDhiver Yes definitely! There have been some great discussions lately! I‘m not a mystery fan, but when I do read them, I like British and Australian. I‘m US too 😊👍🏻📚 5y
sixgun @gradcat @Megabooks my mystery book club, "The to die for club" had us reading Crocodile on the Sandbank. I am loving it! #crocodileonthesandbank #mystery Think independent woman egyptologist set in 1910. Too fun. 5y
Megabooks @sixgun @gradcat I think my mom enjoyed that one. She pretty much only reads mysteries. 😁😁 5y
gradcat @sixgun @Megabooks Yay! Keep those recommendations coming 😁📚👍 5y
