This Is How We Do It | Matt Lamothe

This book is great for teaching about cultural diversity and global citizenship. Students can compare their own daily routines with those of children in other countries.

Releasing all of the new books at work has made me more inclined to read more children‘s books in the meantime.

This is an adorable book about what the sun does for people all around the world ☀️; looking at it possibly being read for the summer reading kickoff! 📚

A history book that's not a history book. Matyszak asks “What would it be like to spend a day in ancient Rome?“ The book allows you to step into the shoes of 24 (one for each hour of the day) Roman citizens and experience the world from their perspective. As entertaining as it is enlightening, and better, I think, as an audiobook than it would have been on paper.

Rather short review for this one: https://bit.ly/rvw-24-in-Rome

Thanks to @MoonWitch94 advertising #TheFlowerLetters newest year long story, I signed up to receive Adelaide Magnolias and Captain Liam Mattice Regency “Jane Austen” like story!!! I can‘t wait for the first letter to come in September!!!

Unless you sign up for the newsletter in the next couple of days, it won‘t be available until August 1, 2022. https://theflowerletters.com/pages/home

CaramelLunacy These sound fascinating. Thanks for sharing 2y
CrowCAH @CaramelLunacy I agree! It will be my first time receiving a subscription letter, but these flowers looked too pretty to pass on. And I‘m sure the story will be beautiful too! 2y
CaramelLunacy I tried Letters From Afar and while they were gorgeous, they were aimed a bit too young for me. I'm over here trying to decide which to try first! 2y
CrowCAH @CaramelLunacy yeah, I‘m not sure the age their aiming for as an audience, since nothing was mentioned in the site. Let me know if you decide on one of the other characters. 2y

3/5 ⭐️ This is definitely not an academic source, although there are some references to writings and art from Ancient Egypt. I had some problems with the way the dialogue and interactions were written, they just seemed very western and modern to me. But, I do know from other sources that much of the historical information is correct. I would recommend to someone who wants to read about Ancient Egypt but isn‘t accustomed to historical texts.

I love humorous essays strung together in a memoir. And, much like British humor, Southern humor is very much my thing. My only problem with this is that it's definitely a product of its time, so the author doesn't shy away from throwing insults like the r-word in the middle of what would be an otherwise funny joke.
