I will say the casting of Desi queer cheerleader was genius. The acknowledgement of how profound and important that is can be seen in the book. I would have loved more from Irene, but Scottie was the central character. I love how YA leads are more than just one type of person. pick7 out of 10. A queer remake of the 80s movie “she can‘t buy me love”, but with a modern look of how losing ones self in pride, grief, and denial can lead to losing everything. Fun story, very predictable. I will say the honesty towards the end of the book was refreshing. There are some 80s/90s references most people will love.
