#HauntedShelf Book Scavenger Hunt
I don't know if this is really a #NightSky, but that's what it's always reminded me of.

I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this. This was a discussion of cognitive theory and sentience as it relates to the human condition disguised as a first contact novel with vampires?!

Wow. Funny and yet poignant and touching at times. First Contact done right!

This is John Scalzi's first "practice" novel, later revised for publication. While it has vivid characters and features Scalzi's trademark originality and wit, it also feels less polished than his later work. It's also very briefly kind of mean to Keanu Reeves (why???) A fun read for Scalzi fans, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are new to this author--it is definitely not his best.

Agent to the Stars is a ridiculous book, and it was tons of fun. Apparently, Scalzi wrote it to see if he could actually write a novel. Wil Wheaton does a great job narrating it. 1979 is my #audiowalk book. I‘m not invested so far. I like McDermid, the time period interests me, but so far it seems to be about financial crime and tax evasion, and that bores me. I hope I‘m wrong.

I‘m simply not capable of resisting something with this title…and so far it does not disappoint. Great story and amazing, gloriously colorful art.

I forgot to post yesterday so two for today....
I am posting one book per day from my extensive, and ever growing, TBR shelves. Some are old and some are new, some are gifts and some I don't know why I bought them.

Another tie for August. #12booksof2023

This year I read books set all over the place. A significant part of this book took place on another planet, making it the farthest setting from my home. The closest was probably Yellowface, with much of the story taking place in Washington DC.

Andrew65 I really enjoyed The Sparrow. 12mo

I took advantage of Barnes and Noble‘s hardcover sale to acquire these two from @yourfavouritemixtape ‘s #ALSpine list. I had not heard of the tagged, and I have been really wanting to read No Two Persons. Really looking forward to both!

Soubhiville I love Erica Bauermeister so much! Enjoy! 12mo

This was weird but in a very charming way. I wanted to bail after the prologue but I am so glad I didn‘t. But the book would have been just as good without it.
