Just finished this book. It was an interesting read about the rekindling of a relationship from 40 years ago. The characters seemed realistic with faults of their own. Real people with real life problems. 4/5⭐️ (the book was on my #AuldLangSpine matchup list with
@PeaKnit)
I enjoyed reading this novel. Having grown up in a small town with plain-spoken people who were similar to these characters. 4/5⭐️
Cute holiday romance based on a huge Matzah ball set to happen on the final night of Hanukkah. Rachel and Jacob met each other in a Jewish summer camp when young but haven‘t seen each other for a long time. Rachel suffers from Chronic Fatigue syndrome. An easy read will have the reader falling in love with Jacob‘s grandmother, “bubbe.”
This novel begins when Maisie is 13. Maisie begins working as a servant in a grand manor with a huge library. Maisie has a love of reading and is drawn to deep issues of the mind and learning. The story progresses through WWI and its aftermath. The scarring of bodies and minds. Maisie Dobbs, Psychologist and Investigator. I enjoyed this novel and will continue reading the series. 4/5⭐️
The novel brings the reader into the story with Sam at age 7 to age 19. Sam has passion for rock climbing and she‘s good at it. Being raised in a home with her single mother with a younger brother. Her father is not around often. Coming of age is tough for Sam as she discovers who she is or what she wants. 3.5/5
A novel taking the reader on a generational journey from a survivor of the Sand Creek Massacre to current day with Indigenous Peoples. The addiction of drugs and alcohol and there affects on the individual. Well written and certainly worth reading. 4/5⭐️
Well written novel with plenty of characters in lots of interesting plot twists and turns. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Funny and heart-touching; sad in ways, this is a love story that goes beyond “the norm.” Thomas is a concert pianist living in Paris. His father (who died five years ago) has a favor for Thomas to complete. The characters are interesting. I had plenty of laughter as the plot thickened. Read on Kindle before the actual expected publication date. 4/5⭐️
I enjoyed this book very much. The novel took the reader through many difficulties the women in India suffered during the 1950s. Lakshmi was an exceptional artist with great talent. She had an unknown sister 13 years younger than herself. They go through many challenges and changes. 4.25/5⭐️
A slow-paced novel that was enjoyable. Missy Carmichael is an elderly woman who has lived a relatively good life. There are ups and downs along her path, the same as we all have. Kids all grown and live on their own. Lonely and needing to fill her life, the novel kept me turning pages. 4/5⭐️
A novel set in the early twentieth century in Washington. A story of how those fighting for unions were treated. Characters with courage and determination to trying for equality in the workplace. Historical fiction opening the eyes of those unfamiliar with the battles of workers. A solid 4/5⭐️
Alice Ingold has been kidnapped. The daughter of a high-profile couple. Newspapers across the country are reporting details. Strange poetry demands rather than ransom money? Cross country flights to find clues. Who could be behind the kidnapping? 3.5/5⭐️
I enjoyed reading‘s ing about the people living in Crosby Maine. Olive Kitteridge, an old woman living in a retirement village, often invited Lucy Barton and author over to tell stories of unrecorded lives. The stories were usually told without judgement, only with known facts. Bob Burgess was an interesting character who lived in town and was considered helpful and caring. 4/5⭐️
The final book in the Tending Roses series. This novel tells of a young adult Dell trying to find her roots and birth father. Adopted at 13 by a very loving family, Dell always felt a pull to her past. Indigenous appearance and strong emotions bring interesting results. 4.5/5⭐️
This is the fourth book in the series Tending Roses. I have found the characters to be really nice and interesting. I especially enjoyed Dell Jordan and Julia Costell in this novel. The way Lisa Wingate brings her characters to life makes me have faith in humanity. 4.5/5⭐️
Another beautiful novel by Lisa Wingate. The characters are almost perfect. The story-line brings everyone together and connecting the novels in this series. 4.5/5⭐️
Another book full of love and feelings. I love the stories Lisa Wingate writes. The main message I took from this novel is to take the time to “stop and smell the roses” in our lives. Find contentment in what you have not trying to reach for happiness in things. I gave it 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A cozy mystery with a group of characters who were mostly like-able. Small town Mississippi is the setting. The story was okay. The first in a series, but I don‘t believe I‘ll read the rest. I prefer a bit more depth in stories, but not bad for a lighter. 3.25/5⭐️
Wonderful historical fiction novel! I loved the character Rosanne. A tragic accident took her parents & brother from her at 16. The owners of the orchard where her father worked became her guardians. Rosie was unique and saw colors with sounds. She became pregnant at 17 and was sent to a hospital for ‘treatments‘ which were hoped to cure her seeing of colors. I want to say so much but don‘t want to spoil the book. Tissues required 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I used to read lots of his books. Somehow I missed this one. It was not what I expected but I enjoyed it. I liked Jimmy Tock and his family. A different kind of thriller. 4/5⭐️
An extremely intense book filled with the mob. Lots of characters, so many that I wasn‘t able to keep track of them. Not my favorite Patterson book but a fast-paced book filled with action. 3.75/5⭐️
The novel about a college-aged girl wrongly convicted of murdering her best friend and roommate. When Chelsea is released almost 15 years later, she is determined to prove herself innocent and find the killer. 4/5⭐️
Aged for Murder is a cozy mystery. Olivia Glass is a 34 year old woman from Chicago. She is in a Tuscan Village on a summer vacation when she falls in love with the beautiful region. 4/5⭐️
Two old women was an excellent story passed down from generation to generation. A short fast paced book. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. It was the way her thoughts ran during the year after her husband died. I didn‘t enjoy it. I kept going in the hopes I would find something to attach myself too. Sadly, that didn‘t happen. 3/5⭐️
This classic was a story built around the main character Janie Crawford. We read along as Janie becomes a woman, a wife and eventually finds a very real and true love. She experiences many difficulties as the story progresses. 4/5⭐️
The first in the series by L R Wright. I enjoyed the characters and the plot was interesting. There was sadness in several parts. 4/5⭐️
This novel takes the reader on a journey through multiple aspects of heartbreak, terrible decisions, loss, addiction, trauma, love, friendship and frustration in many ways. My cheeks are still damp from tears as I write these words. I gave it 5/5⭐️
Jack Swyteck is a Miami lawyer who is indicted for the murder of his last client. Jack‘s father Harry is the current governor of Florida. Jack & Harry are estranged. This is a fast paced story with lots of action. This is the first in a new series. 3/5⭐️
A southern mystery where the main character Madeleine, returns to her hometown after her aunt dies. She finds she has inherited the bookstore owned by her deceased aunt. Arson, murder and more arson ensues and Madeleine tries to solve the crimes. 3.75/5⭐️
The story of the walk across the ancient five-hundred-mile Camino de Santiago featuring two women. One is the deceased mother who died in childbirth and the other the daughter who‘s taking the path her father took when he was the age his daughter is now. The kindness of the pilgrims along the trail seems to be evident in both stories. The journey of a lifetime for many. A 5 ⭐️ star read.
Fast paced thriller. Brad Meltzer has a talent for keeping his audience on the edge. 4/5⭐️
A thriller based on “the inner circle“ of the President. Lots of secrets and potential crimes covered up and the possibilities of how those who know could have knowledge. I thought it conceivable in the world today. 4/5⭐️
A mystery and romance novel written by Nora Roberts. The story has Sloan, a police officer almost killed in the line of duty. Recovery send her back to her childhood home. Her family is close and respected in her hometown. Nice characters as well as some really crazy ones round out the mystery. 4/5⭐️
Two girls disappeared. The brutal murders. A well a complex mystery. The clues led me one way-the ending was an unexpected twist. 4.25⭐️
A thriller with lots of twists and some unexpected twists. Some predictable as a you might expect. The main characters were not straight forward. I gave this a 4/5⭐️
A novel with a quiet librarian living in Minnesota. The Bosnian and Serbian war was brutal with atrocities which offend common decency. The story was well written and heartfelt. 4/5⭐️
A novel dealing with lots of different real life issues. I enjoyed the characters and their complex personalities. One character caused upheaval deeper than tolerable. Her behaviors broke my heart more than once. The love of family, not necessarily blood related, had me enjoying this novel. 4.5/5⭐️
The novel has triggers of domestic abuse, violence, strong feelings of anger and frustration. In spite of its strong portrayal of violence, there are many instances where the reader will find laughter and tears. Strong commitment to friendship between friends are felt. Many people will find feelings of “I should have known” or “Really” while trying to seek solutions to problems in kindergartners and abuse. 4.25/5⭐️
A novel with a group of people who are trying to infect the public with a new deadly epidemic. Such a frightening thought. Covid 19 made this story seem very realistic. 4/5⭐️
The first book in a series written by Taylor Stark. FBI agent Carly Phoenix is sent to Chicago to investigate cold cases. A very determined Carly is searching for answers to a murder, then connections to other murders are uncovered. How many young women have been killed by this serial killer? 3.75/5⭐️
A slow moving mystery. Some of the characters were a bit quirky. Very not earth-shattering story. I will read the second in the series to see how the novels are tied together. 4/5
Who would have guessed moss and learning about moss would be such an interesting topic. I have enjoyed reading this book. Definitely a 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.
