A few days after going to the Alison Bechdel exhibition in Basel, I found this one in our local library! So I just had to get it and it was so good! Even though familiar with the Bechdel Test, this was my first book to read. I love her art style, so many details! Love the humor, but also the depth. From now on I'm only going to use the word Schmamazon for the big A 😂

One thing I love about Alison‘s books are the drawings. For example, City Hall is perfectly captured here. I can‘t tell you how many times I‘ve walked up and down those stairs during my many years of working there and when Bernie was Mayor the lights in the building were always lit up. This book covers many topics - goat rearing, politics, polyamory (which made me chuckle), Alison‘s constant questioning and concerns. It was a delight.

I just don't know about these books.😂 Rikitink in Oz was annoying & nothing Oz-related showed up until chapter 20. I liked The Lost Princess of Oz, which had a relatively tight plot. Then we ended with The Tin Woodman of Oz, which was bizarre. After all this time, Nick Chopper is going to go back & offer to marry the munchkin girl he used to love & make her empress. So egotistical for kind Nick! And we meet Oz's version of Frankenstein's monster.

Just reading Spent by Alison Bechdel and this one made me laugh. It might just get me through the day 🐐
I can use this story in my classroom to teach the students in my class the importance of not giving up with something even if it is hard. Children often become discouraged when they don't get something right from the start. But, this story can teach children that it takes time and practice.
The Three Billy Goat Gruff is a picturebook that was published in 2022. The artwork in this story were created by using ink, watercolor, and graphite. The muted color palette of browns, greens, and blues sets an earthy tone, grounding the story in a natural setting. The use of white space and varying perspectives guide the reader's focus, emphasizing key moments and characters.

This was a lot of fun! I confess myself baffled by the autofiction aspect; with most of the other DTWOF characters there, why not use Mo and Sydney instead of “Alison” and “Holly”? A lot of the same themes from DTWOF are there, and it‘s less about money than I expected. I wonder if Holly‘s video success with wood chopping is inspired by one of my internet crushes, Nicole Coenen.
Apparently Stuart COULD get more my type: now poly and tattooed 😍
