pickThis is a mixture of memoir and academia as Lahiri explores the how to or challenges in translating writing into other languages. Her vocabulary is impressive. Her point of the beauty of knowing more than one idioma/ lingue/ language so one can find a more precise word to communicate, translation as a method to read the authors of other cultures, and translating thoughts into another language as self introspection was inspiring and compelling.

Oops. Looks like I mixed up yesterday‘s and today‘s authors. Either way, Lahiri is most certainly a favorite author though my collection is small.
I had no knowledge of this author but love some of the things she has said or written looking at my research.
This quote sums up what reading does to readers. This is why I love reading, & even more so than films or TV. On films & tv you are watching someone else‘s interpretation of words, & not the effect those words have on you.
