January Reviews

Book 9 in the Joe Ledger series. So sometimes when a book in a series devastates me, I take a long break from it. The last book in this series saw Joe, Echo Team, and the DMS face some big losses. It‘s been three years for me, so time to pick another one up. The characters have not had a lot of recovery time so when the next big bad guy comes along, it‘s an uphill climb. This is an action packed series and often over the top, ⬇️

Bookzombie but I love it. Ray Porter brings the characters to life.
Only one more book in this particular series to go. #SeriesLove2023

Sometimes I think if Maberry kills Top or Bunny, I will break up with him. Probably not, because I love his others series, Rot & Ruin and Dead of Night. I also need to finish his Pine Deep Trilogy.

I love Joe Ledger! Thank you Amazon Book Wishlist!!

Sorry … the birthday month book haul continues.

This book comes from a friend who reads the Ledger books with me. I‘d collect as many hardcovers as I can find!!

This one came from a library!! I peeled away the stickers and tape, fixed the binding, removed the jacket & recovered it. Perfection!!

🎧 Did you like RAGE? Then you will LOVE this book!!

There are a lot of call backs to previous books, cases, villains & loved ones. You don‘t have to read the previous books but it will make reading this book even more enjoyable as you‘ll smile or cringe at random unearthed memories.

When we last saw Joe he had lost his entire family, cut down before his eyes. Poor Joe 😢 he is still NOT having a good day!

Rogue Team International is once again on the hunt for the bad guys. We‘ve got new players & old! I LOVE So many of the main cast of characters!!! I hate that anyone from our team ever has to be killed off!! It‘s always a possibility but NOOOO!! Who will it be today?

Joe & Ghost take off (from an unusually disturbing OP) on a mission of their own making … to kill those who brutally killed his family. Joe is in a very dark place for most of this story. It gets bloody.

The rest of the team is on the hunt of a new threat & an unusual character from Joe‘s past is enlisted to find & help Joe (I LOVE THIS GUY).

There‘s some sexy time but it‘s minimal enough. There‘s some swearing, I also wasn‘t bothered by this. There is a bunch of graphic violence including rape so if this could bother you, just beware!! It‘s difficult to hear the atrocities involving animals & children.

Hardcourt …. always reminds me of a Star Trek episode. 😆

Litsy doesn‘t have this book either. 🤨

Did you like RAGE? This is pretty much the same if not better. A lot of call backs to previous cases, villains & loved ones.

Poor Joe 😢

I‘m loving the audiobook!

Nothing extra here really. If you like the Ledger novels, you‘ll like this one. I feel the ending was a little weak. The almost supernatural portions are a stretch. Not upset I read it. Always a fan of the series.

1. Tagged.
2. I used a lot more audiobooks due to demands of teaching and grad school.
3. The Odd Women by George Gissing for a Goodreads group read this month.

This was a hard book to rate because of its over simplification of good guys versus bad guys. Ray Porter, the audio book narrator, really made the book for me. I liked that it was action-packed, and if you're into covert ops and law enforcement you will probably like it--it is more of that than horror. I do want to know where the author goes with the series.

4th book read for the #NovelNovember #Readathon
