4 Stars. I enjoyed this book, the characters were infuriating and lovely at times yet not dumbed down. I found myself actually rooting and cheering for them. I liked the mystery surrounding the story itself. It felt like a nicer pace than what I last read (The Ruins by Scott Smith). It was a pleasant take on a gothic era novel. I could also appreciate that it wasn‘t fully a dark romance and gave some warm chemistry between two main characters.

Only gave this book 3 Stars. The characters were insufferable. The only redeemable parts are the horror aspect. Other than that, the book was very disappointing. I won‘t say what character, but there‘s just one of six who is just so incompetent. If you can guess the character, I‘ll give you a cat. 🐈

I‘m glad I read The Deep before I read this. It upped the gross factor by 100. A tale of loss, fear, and childhood innocence. A tale of survival on an island that happens so fast, a tale of bond so deep, it just never really leaves the brain. Recommended for a good guessing game and a really well done child psycho.

Imagine a world consumed by a drug so powerful, it takes 9 months to make. What if you had a family you needed to protect to make sure they wouldn‘t take your youngest child or wife. This book was an intense whirlwind of survival and showing the lengths you‘d need to take in order to save what would be important to you. Also kinda weird, but it was a strange fun.

Imagine getting out of your city life to write a new book. Imagine this small town having this perfect cabin for you. It‘s been empty for over a year. There‘s dust everywhere and some weird items up in the attic. Perfect regardless right? Well. What if I told you that cabin wasn‘t left alone for no reason. Highly recommend the unrated version. It‘s more graphic and leaves you with a more bleak outlook.

Honestly, I was very excited to read this. The plot set up for everything I would love in a book. Unfortunately, it lost me hard throughout. I kept reading, thinking and hoping it would get more exciting and hoping there‘d be more likable characters. Very disappointed.

Imagine if one major decision jumped you into an unforgiving place. A place so bad, hell is just slightly worse. Well, I can say for sure. I would take my 50/50 shot. I liked the book, it goes through a bleak stage of madness and survival. But, the ending is at least worth it all.

How much trauma can one room fit? Well. Surprisingly enough to fit a whole 120 page book. This was a short read but for sure a hell of a ride to get through, not one minute made me go “Ugh.” I do recommend. I also have to add, content warning. So be prepared, be very prepared.

I have mixed feelings on this book (mostly, I had a hard time figuring out what character was which) I did find the thought of anyone having a high level of testosterone in this world, would cause you to also turn into a killing machine. Horrifying, as someone with PCOS. The story of just trying to survive the world while trying to navigate forces and a virus that‘s threatening you. Pretty intense. Good for a one read.

Say you had 7 days to find out how to stop a curse from killing you. How would you do it? Would you waste time or would you do the obvious way to stop it. What would be the obvious way to stop it? Well. You might not want to watch the tape in the first place. I say give this book a chance. There‘s a twist I didn‘t see coming and the characters aren‘t great. But the mystery aspect is pretty solid.

What if you never existed? What if your whole world view was dependent on two people in your life? What if you were a lie? Honestly, even though I guessed early on what the twist would be. I was satisfied with how it all was written out. (Minus the animal abuse, major avoid if you can‘t handle that) Franks family is just, really, really unfortunate.

Did you ever want to be a tour guide in another country? Did you ever want to be one for the not so family friendly side of this country? Well, this book might change your mind. This book was a perfect with the idea of “What could happen if the tourists you‘re dealing with… might be something he isn‘t?” A quick slow burn. I recommend reading it at a least once.

I still have mixed feelings about this book, I liked it, and then it fell flat for me towards the end. But I still liked it. It can be a tough read, but sometimes you need a book that just doesn‘t end the way you want it to. Just like how real life can be sometimes. Dark, unforgiving, unpredictable, and with a side of sometimes being painfully predictable. Most certainly not a comfort read.

I admit, I didn‘t pay much attention to the synopsis. But that worked in the books favor for me. I thought the book was going to be one way, but then ended up a more interesting “Well. That‘s not at all what I expected.” Even if it‘s not for my age demographic. I can‘t help but root for the main characters and her friends. So yeah. Give this a try! and remember, you always have a friend in Frendo.

It‘s a slow burn of a book, but honestly. The ending made it worthwhile. I recommend. Although I will knock part of it and say. It needed less of Smoke. He‘s just a bad guy, to be a bad guy. Most of the book he just wastes time on in his own petty world. Made the book feel like a slug fest whenever his chapters would pop up.

I don‘t really know what to say about this book. It was a meh, kinda book. It was slow in the start, then rushed in the middle. The end was lackluster and predictable. I didn‘t connect with any of the teenagers, didn‘t really have time too either. You got small backgrounds, but nothing really concrete except for some very what felt almost trope like to each character. That‘s kind of about it. Very vanilla. 3/5 stars.

A very slow burn of a book, but once it gets to the point of no going back. It‘s a heck of a ride. I adored the main likable characters and despised the awful people who thought better of themselves. If you enjoy people getting payback for horrific treatment caused by lies. You‘ll love this book. This book helped me through the toughest week of my life. In short. You want dinosaurs? You want mathematicians predicting your business will fail? You want a greedy millionaire with a miniature elephant? This book has all that and a bratty kid that will make you roll your eyes so hard, you swear you landed in the park itself. The kills in the book are top notch and I even giggled at one. Can you guess which? Highly recommend this ridiculous book where money can‘t buy you disciplined dinosaurs. Tragic. I know.

This book was amazing! I enjoyed how Lauren used the mix of supernatural killer, with the added bonus of seeing how social media can end up being used as a way to unleash evil into modern everyday life. The way she was able to reflect in each person how they were flawed/broken to a varying level. Plus, she did such an amazing job at connecting them together. Highly recommend this book, I had such a hard time putting it down. I didn‘t want to stop.

It‘s a book of it‘s time, that‘s for sure. If you can handle some of the less flattering language, you might end up enjoying this book. I found the book to be okay. The monster was hard to really picture, but interesting to say the least. Ghost is the best character in the book hands down the best good boy. I‘d say give this book a chance if you‘re bored and want to turn your brain off.

I don‘t even know if I have anything positive to say about this book. It was incredibly bland and only one character was sort of interesting. The added story of the ex war vet who lost his leg in the war. Yeah, good job Ryan. Managed to ruin that story line too. All and all, don‘t bother with this one. There‘s way better creature feature books.

4 stars! This book humanized one of the most tragic events that can happen to a woman in her life. They didn‘t demonize her and they didn‘t bad mouth her. For that, I give this book so much credit to how real these people felt after awhile. They also gave the real monster in the book a justified end. Not my cup of tea still, but I would gladly read this over Haunting Adeline. I can actually see myself happily reading the second book. Recommend.

This was a bittersweet read, I really felt for Victoria. My heart crushed for her at several parts of book. It‘s a beautiful story of life, death, and loss of childhood innocence. Lots of hate worthy characters too. But lots of good characters. I‘m still trying to figure out how I feel about Victoria‘s parent though. I slightly recommend giving this book a chance. Plus, Joe Hill is up there with his father. (I loved the Easter Eggs he put in this)

4 stars. I was hooked and I enjoyed the nightmarish images it gave. Plot made me feel so much for a character and my heart still breaks for Luke. I even shed a few tears. Good book. Now if only my therapy cat didn‘t get emotionally scarred by my emotional roller coaster with this book. Guess it‘s time to get him a therapy cat.

I adored reading this book, it was a great palette cleanse from Patient Zero. The characters are likable and even if it‘s a fast read, it put in a lot action pack moments and romantic moments. I‘m excited to read the sequel! I highly recommend this book for the heart warming moments and the funny moments.

This book infuriated me. Even Haunting Adaline infuriated me less than this book did. Oh my god the main character Joe Ledger. Smartest man and the most wiseass couldn‘t figure out the simple hand fed clue when it was in his face three times. Oh and don‘t get me started on the villain Gault. I hated this book with a passion and I‘m still fuming over just how incompetent the hero and the villain are.

Patrick Bateman has it all. He is rich, he‘s good looking, he‘s smart. He has women and the ability to hold an identity that can be mistaken for human. How could someone as successful and influential as Bateman, end up being as detestable as he is. Well, you see. It‘s not really his fault. He is just a self proclaimed entity after all. Bright side: I at least never have to read this book again. Unlucky side: I can‘t unread it.

This book is recommended if you just like good fun dumb in a book. The only complaint I would have is how he had me almost disliking one of the main characters. I enjoyed the amount of villains in his book and just had fun checking out and just enjoying the ride it gave.

If you like horror movies and the Final Girls trope, along with some twist. You‘ll love this book! I found myself enjoying the characters and actually rooting for them bunch. Some times the Main Final Girl (Lynnette) can be insufferable but for the most part I enjoyed the ride of seeing her handle situations that only a Final Girl could.

Finally got myself into the Hannibal series. I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters were interesting enough and I just found myself enjoying the story so much. Highly recommend if you like True Crime and Hannibal. Also as a side note. If you read Hannibal‘s lines, read it in Mads Mikkelsen‘s voice. 10x better to read it with his accent.

I had really high hopes for this book to be somewhat interesting with all the warnings attached to it. I was disappointed when I found myself only enjoying a few chapters. Main woman is just. I guess I would compare her to Murphy‘s law but she‘s so much worse than that. “The Shadow” he‘s and I will stand by this just every edgy anime hero/antihero troupe. I would say read it if you just want cringe. Regardless, I am going to read the second book.

If this review comes up twice, I apologize. But this was an okay book. I thought it would be perfect for me after hearing people discussing it. It‘s the first book I almost bailed on, but only because of the small fact that the book does something repetitive very often. Other than that. It‘s a ride of a book that I can say at least read it once just to see the hype. I kinda did enjoy the book but it was a strong half and half.

So, this book. It‘s a very interesting book. I give 3 stars, only because while the story was interesting and I did find myself enjoying most of it. It kind of dragged at times, I also just wish some of the characters weren‘t added in just for semi important dialogue. Over all the scenes were gruesome and the story was for sure a story. I would recommend reading only if you have a strong stomach to handle the nature of this book.

I have to say, I went in not knowing anything about what this book held. I was only told bits and pieces here and there. But finally after 28 years of hearing about it I found it one lovely day at Barnes & Noble. I was hooked, the story is deep and really paints a picture of loss, grieving, betrayal, abandonment. I would recommend it if you have always wanted to read it. But be warned. You will have a blizzard of emotions going through.

So i‘m new to posting books and making reviews, but it‘s 2020 so I figured i‘d give it a try! So the book i‘m most excited for is, Red Dragon. I‘ve always saved myself from watching Hannibal movies until I was able to read the books in order. I‘m sorry if the books are cut off please do forgive me for the noob start. But yeah this is my first January haul. I should add that i‘m big into horror, so that‘s what most of my picks are. Meow~
