It's a funny story how I got into this book. I really enjoyed the Amazon show 'Modern love', through that I got to know about the podcast, then the episode by Terri and then finally her book. Bipolar disorder has interested me for various reasons and honestly it's a really good account of her experience. A vivid and overwhelming account of something that is so common yet unknown to people.

As for the book, I definitely liked it.

“How could I ever hope to tell a normal person about the terrors of being happy? Unless there was a damned good reason for it…happiness wasn‘t a safe harbor for me. It was just another checkpoint on the road to mania.”

This memoir was compellingly profound. I have loved ones and close friends that have bipolar disorder, and I don‘t know nearly as much as I imagined I did about what life is like for them on a daily basis.

I started listening to this audiobook last night when I learned that Anne Hathaway was portraying the author in Amazon‘s series Modern Love. This is compelling! I came to the library for a physical copy to read when I can‘t listen and for her sequel, THE DARK SIDE OF INNOCENCE.

Really appreciated this book and thought the non-linear format added to Terri Cheney's story.

I had quite a few "ah-ha" moments in this book and although I enjoyed the book it has too many medical terms and prescription names that could of very well been reduced throughout the book

Very relatable and real. Well written. Enjoyed it cover to cover.
