Boring Girls | Sara Taylor
post image
Pickpick

This book needs a trigger warning, but I can't quite figure out what would be appropriate. There's a lot of violence, both sexual and physical. I liked this book for a lot of reasons: women breaking barriers in metal music, how it violence affects someone's mental state, and how relatable the characters are, included. What frustrated me was the stereotype that metal music warps one's mental state and that's all this music is capable of. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

8little_paws Is this the same Sara Taylor as this?! 7y
cleoh @8little_paws I think so! I didn't know she has other books! Although I just figured out she's the singer for The Birthday Massacre, a band I really like, so clearly I have some catching up to do! 7y
8little_paws @cleoh OK I did some googling and it is not!! Just a coincidence they have the same name! But I highly highly recommend the book I linked it is one of my all time favorites. 7y
cleoh @8little_paws I'll definitely check it out! 😊 7y

Ungodly: A Novel | Kendare Blake

Pickpick

I really liked how this novel ended, but felt the ending for the series as a whole was a bit abrupt. I enjoyed the characters and Blake's writing, and while it definitely isn't my favourite adaption of Greek mythology, it's definitely worth a read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #LitsyAtoZ @BookishMarginalia #mmdreadingforgrowth #3bysameauthor
