4⭐ Save the whales and save our oceans. That is the purpose of this simply wonderful book. In it our main character takes a boat out to sea. One day in a storm, the mean character is saved by a whale. And eventually our human character has to save the whale from the trash buildup in their system from all the pollution in the oceans. This story is super simple but effective. It gets to the message, is understandable, and the message is actionable.

I loved the illustrations in this book about limiting plastic use to save our oceans. Kids who live near beaches can relate to the MC Isley (I 💕 her name, too). Did you know that sea turtles love jellies? Plastic bags look just like jellyfish. This book leaves kids inspired to make a difference. I think it would be interesting for kids who don't live near the beach to research how their plastic could end up in the ocean. Because it does.

Marcus Eriksen is an activist and a scientist who, along with his wife Ana, set out on an expedition along the North Pacific to study the marine pollution that is known as the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch”. They realize the situation is more dire than many are lead to believe. In this book, he recounts his struggles in getting his junk raft made and the harrowing effort out to sea. I enjoyed the solutions he laid out on how we can reduce our… ⬇️

A quick but good read with a lot of good small ideas that are easy to implement and will help our oceans and planet.

Darklunarose @Cruble88 ❤️ you‘re welcome! It‘s got some good ideas. Reading through it there is a lot that‘s already law in My state like no single use bags, no plastic straws and cutlery etc. but a lot more we can do 2y

Wow. Got the audio & print from the library. Thought I would mostly do audio, but am so in to this book I will mostly read so I can absorb it. Only 25 pages in but the history and how plastics changed our society is absolutely fascinating. Plastic made billiards/pool a “common man” game when the balls no longer needed to be made of plastic. And shellac was once made@from beetles. It took 15,000 beetles 6 months to make a pound of shellac!

SamAnne And loving my porch heat lamp so I can read outside when it‘s 38 degrees out! 3y
