Wow. Fantastic way to advertise the dangers of pollution, industrialization, and business that harms the environment to a young audience. And that‘s an abrupt ending that leaves a great impact rather than an unfinished one.

lil1inblue @TheBookHippie 😍 I need to read more of her work. I adore the writing in this one. Any other recommendations? 3mo
TheBookHippie @lil1inblue To honor Rachel Carson on the centennial of her birth in 2007, Penguin Classics proudly published a centennial edition of Under the Sea-Wind, Carson‘s first book and her personal favorite. 3mo

The 9 year old loved this one. I think this one might be my favorite of the series. The message of hope & protecting the environment resonates strong here. I really wish there was a Roz that could be out there to stop the destruction to our environment.

TheBookHippie Me too!!!! I so love this series. 3mo

For being dated, this book is still absolutely on point. All the arguments are as valid as ever. Definitely worth reading if you haven‘t. It was hard going, reading about so many dead animals and sick people, but we need to keep books like this in regular rotation.

TheBookHippie I‘ve read this three times. I do enjoy her other works as well. 3mo

Silent Spring | Rachel Carson

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature, the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”
