City of Bones | Cassandra Clare

Sitting in the car in the spring sunshine, reading City Of Bones with the beautiful wattle flowers in front of me. I'm in a bit of a reading slump at the moment, I keep drifting between this, The Crow Girl, Raven Black by Ann Cleeves on audiobook & The Fires Of Heaven by Robert Jordan. I hate slumps, what do you guys do to get out of a reading slump? #readingtips #saynotoslumps

Lindy If I was not really into any of the books I was reading, I would set all of them aside until my mood changes. Don't force it; that's antithetical to pleasure. Maybe listen to music or go for a walk until the book call is strong again. 8y
pppooraikul I get busy with other things, then I suddenly crave for books! Or sometimes I go back to those I always love. :) 8y
readinginthedark Usually, I reread my favorites. Sometimes I cleanse my palate with something more fun--cozy mysteries, middle grade fantasies, romance from time to time. 8y

Dogearedcopy Sometimes I table everything and try to jumpstart my reading with a quick Romance novel or fun urban fantasy title. If that doesn't work, I go do something completely different like catch up on movies, listen to music, go wine tasting, plan week-end hikes/kayaking.... Basically I give my reading brain a little recovery space 😉 8y
BookishFeminist I usually try to dive into something really fun that I haven't read for a while- maybe a mystery or a fun thriller. Or I'll try listening exclusively on audio. If that fails I just listen to podcasts and go browse a bookstore next time I want to read then pick up the thing that catches my fancy. 8y
Lizpixie @Lindy @pppooraikul @readinginthedark @Dogearedcopy @BookishFeminist thanks guys for the tips. I've been giving reading a break by catching up with Endeavour & The Hunger Games movies on Netflix & Foxtel, plus I've been watching some booktubers online. Has anyone else watched polandbananasbooks, little book owl or ariel bissett on YouTube? They're terrific! 8y
[DELETED] 2232195534 Sounds like you got some good tips and many were what I would have suggested. Think sometimes our brains just need a little time to process or reboot. Have a good week! 😀 8y
