Circe | Madeline Miller

Pickpick

Circe the daughter of Helios, the Sun, is exiled to a deserted island after her dabblings into witchcraft land her in trouble with Zeus.

I didn't know Circe's story before I read this, so I don't know how true to the oringinal legends it is. It was well told and a very interesting story. Definitely going to read Madeline Millar again.

Using this as my Re-telling prompt for #readingwidelychallenge and as Alternate Worlds for #AutumnBookBinge

Eleanor and Park | Rainbow Rowell

Pickpick

The story of two teenagers who meet when Eleanor sits next to a very reluctant Park. Slowly they become friends and then boyfriend and girlfriend. I've read a few YA books recently and have found the teen angst a bit tiresome at times, this had none of this. Oh how I loved this book. I laughed out loud, I cried, I worried about the characters. So glad that I included this on my #bookspin list. Thank you @TheAromaofBooks #readingwidelychallenge

TheAromaofBooks This is one I keep meaning to reread. Great review! 4y

Oh my gosh, what to say about this one. Spiegelman has created a heart-breaking story based on his father's experience surviving Auschwitz. I could hear his father voice and think he did a wonderful job. I'm using this to tick off the graphic novel prompt for my #readingwidelychallenge. This was my first graphic novel and it was a great introduction. I would highly recommend this one.

MommyWantsToReadHerBook It really is excellent!! 4y

Today was my day to commute and I was so engrossed in this today I almost missed my stop. Oh my heart.

Caroline2 I don‘t normally read graphic novels but I thought this was phenomenal!! 4y
Victoria_Clyne @caroline2 I feel the same. It was on my TBR for awhile and my library's #readingwidelychallenge prompted me to put it on hold at the library. 4y
AmyG These were the first I have ever read. Amazing books. 4y
Victoria_Clyne I whole heartedly agree @AmyG I stayed up too late last night finishing it. Amazing book. I can still hear his Dad's voice. 4y

I really enjoyed my first (well two) Agatha Raisin mysteries. I'd not read M. C. Beaton before but I have added the third book to my TBR list. I'm a big fan of the TV series and whilst there are some distinct differences the essence of the two remain the same. A good fun read. And I'm using it for the British crime novel prompt for my #readingwidelychallenge with my library.
