4⭐ Growing up is hard. As girls age, they find different likes, and can start to stray from long held friendships. In Roller Girl, Astrid falls in love with Roller Derby. It is so geeky, but edgy at the same time. Her friend, however, is more into dance. Their friendship starts to splinter as Astrid pulls more to Roller Derby. She is not very good and does a lot of falling but she is learning to get up on her own feet and to find the courage

I could keep running from my battles and live in fear or I could embrace the fear.

I enjoyed when Astrid goes to apologize to Zoey and helps her calm down before the match.

Roller girl is an excellent story about a girl named Astrid who falls in love with roller skating and the roller derby to be more specific. Astrid goes through many trials throughout the book specifically with her friend Nicole. The two used to do everything together but as their interests differ they begin to drift apart.

All around good reading week despite the disaster of leaving my current reads in someone else's car for 48 hours. Went a little off forecast but still managed to finish one of my goals.

Goal this week is to finish through part 2 in OaFK. Then get a little bit into Dark Run as it's a library book.

This was a cute story about growing out of friendship and learning to widen your social circles. It also has a nice intro to derby and its culture. Astrid had some understandable flaws but I feel like she also had some growth during the story as well.

I found this while pulling holds today so I‘m taking it home with me. I just joined a recreational roller derby league so I‘m kinda hyped about derby right now.

In honor of my league starting up practices again. It‘s been almost two whole years.
