I can‘t believe it‘s time for May‘s #bookspin list already! Where has the year gone?

Here is yet another “slice of my bookshelves”, plus a few options for my topic bookclub: May‘s topic is a book with a map. And Advice for Future Corpses is for another bookclub.

What will @TheAromaofBooks choose for us this time?

I‘m continuing my 2025 #bookspin “slices of my bookshelves” journey with yellow and green spines on my paperback and hardcover fiction shelves and just 2 greenish nonfiction. What will @TheAromaofBooks pull for our April numbers?

I will definitely be reading The Bees for my bookclub.

AmyG Omg…it‘s almost April already. What? 1mo
TheAromaofBooks I'm pretending it isn't almost April 😂 1mo

Continuing with my #bookspin trend for the year, here is part of the blue paperback section of my TBR shelves. I will definitely be reading Shadow and Bone for #AuthorAMonth and Last Rites for bookclub. What else will @TheAromaofBooks pull out for me?

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! 2mo
AmyG So, my last letter to you came back to me even though I had the correct address. I am sending it back to you with another letter. I didn‘t forget you. 😘 2mo
Soubhiville @AmyG That‘s strange, but even the post office makes mistakes sometimes. How are you feeling? Fully recovered yet? 2mo
AmyG Yes, sometimes a letter slips through 🤷‍♀️. And…feeling pretty good. Cough is better but not yet gone. 2mo
AmyG Tha k you for asking. 2mo

Second book read November 2024

Second book in this Gilded duology of Rumpelstiltskin retelling.

Liked it but not loving it. Again, I think the story was dragged just to justify a second book?😕This is so common now🫤Because of this dragging story there were parts I was interested and others that I was bored because of this repetitive pattern when the story is dragged.
Love both editions.

/3.5⭐️

Gissy Book read for my local book club mostly YA books #TheForgottenBookClub 4mo

Fourth candle of my #Hanukkahchallenge is a winter fairytale told in four different voices: the daughter of impoverished Jewish moneylender, a tzarina, her faithful servant and a peasant girl. The stories they tell bring to the forefront not the magic but the difficulties of women‘s lives in all walks of life. #reread #told_by_a_woman #iamthatjew

I had fun tracking my #Bookspin books with this graphic this year. I skipped October because of the hurricane. #Bookspin continues to be my favorite challenge. I always look forward to the drawings on the second of the month. Thanks @TheAromaofBooks !

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! Fabulous progress this year!! And I SUPPOSE a horrific natural disaster is an okay excuse for skipping some spins 😂 But seriously, I haven't heard as much news coming up from NC now that the holidays are in full swing - have most people had power/water restored? Last I heard, many of the rural areas were still struggling. 4mo
Soubhiville @TheAromaofBooks there are still areas without water and power. Still bridges and big chunks of roadways gone. Still folks living in tents. The city of Asheville has water back and it‘s safe to use again, but you‘re correct that the rural areas still need a lot of work. I have heard that FEMA has begun getting housing in for some families though, and many organizations have gotten donations of tiny houses and RVs. But more are needed. 4mo
Soubhiville It‘s sad but unsurprising that national media moved on so quickly. As we‘ve seen in so many cases before: Katrina, Flint Michigan, etc. 4mo
AmyG People have such short attention spans….and so does the media. 😥 Loved seeing all your books! 4mo
TheAromaofBooks Thank you for sharing an update - at least things are still moving forward, however slowly. Hopefully people are able to get the help they need!! So scary. 4mo

I really love how Novik describes winter and the cold in this book! It‘s so visceral, I found myself shivering while reading it!

#SundayFunday Happy December everyone and don‘t forget to tag me!

Clare-Dragonfly Haha, I read the graphic, immediately thought of this book, and didn‘t realize it was what you tagged until I saw Novik in your text! 5mo

Final #Bookspin list of the year! I‘ll definitely be reading 1 and 7 for bookclubs, we‘ll see what else @TheAromaofBooks chooses from her magic bowl of numbers! ❤️💚📚

AmyG Hamnet is wondeful. So is #8. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. (edited) 5mo
Soubhiville @AmyG I‘ve already started The God of the Woods on audio. She‘s a great writer! I loved Bright River. I did have a nice day with a small gathering in my little apartment. 🙂 Food from my favorite veggie restaurant. How was your day? 5mo
AmyG How nice! Ours was lovely, quiet. Just us and our 2 daughters. 5mo

I DNFed this at 40%. I really tried but it just wasn‘t for me. It felt so relentlessly gloomy to me, which wasn‘t helped by the narrator of the audio. All of her voices sounded like variations on Eeyore.

#DNF

Susanita I actually loved this book, but I think Eeyore narration would annoy me too! 😄 5mo
AlaMich @Susanita It was a bit hard to tell the characters apart because of it. 5mo
