She does a fine job of setting out her stall, that between the ages of 8 and 40 or so we're effectively hijacked by biology and culture and that midlife is an opportunity to become our true selves. However I found I don't subscribe to the myths about ageing that she assumes are universal, so it wasn't nearly the paradigm shift that was promised. And while she's good on excavating one's authentic dreams, the realising of them is more problematic.
This was… fine? Some good stories from his life. Not the most compelling Christian book I‘ve ever read by a long shot. But I finished it, and I don‘t finish books I don‘t like.
My mom bought me this book that she read in the 80s. It helped her overcome the damaging parenting that she went through, particularly as a kid of an alcoholic. Reading this book with that context in mind made me grateful she broke the cycle of not treating you children as human beings and the normalizing of abusive behaviour as 'good parenting.' I wouldn't recommend this book in any other circumstance other than the one I read it under, though!
An excellent guide to the curious, wonderful, confusing, exciting, anxiety inducing world of being an empath. This book helped explain so much, helps you to assess your level of empath tendencies, & gives good basic guidelines and tools on how to deal with that. There is no one size fits all book. This book may be the perfect fit for you, or it may just have a few good useful tools.
Being sick in bed sucks, but it means that I get to make a small dent in my TBR. This was my first Superman comic, and I really liked it! I honestly only bought it because the author said they listened to Taylor Swift's folklore while writing/illustrating it. 😂 Either way, it was fun to explore a new genre.
“ Todo depende de ti. Tu zona errónea de miedo a lo desconocido está esperando ser reemplazada por nuevas actividades estimulantes y llenas de interés que aportarán placer a tu vida. No tienes que saber hacia dónde vas; lo importante es estar en camino.”
I watched the new documentary “Stutz” on Netflix by Jonah Hill and was intrigued to learn more about Phil Stutz and his tools. I enjoyed the book and thought the tools were helpful practices. I have been thinking of them and other parts of the book throughout my days. As a Christian, also in recovery, I was able to augment the tools a little with my faith (something the book suggested). Overall enjoyable content.
