My boys and I read plenty of children‘s books though I rarely feel the need to share them with others. But Little Shrew was a standout for all three of us, admittedly mostly me. Simple, slice of life sections with lovely illustrations, this book gave Frog and Toad vibes for a new generation. I loved it and feel it deserves a Litsy review!

The whole “kid who can talk to animals” has been done a ton of times, but I usually enjoy it. This time, though, the animals sounded more like the kid‘s thoughts. And the animals behaved more like plot devices in the kid‘s story about himself. I couldn‘t make it past the second chapter.

AnnCrystal I nearly purchased this earlier this year, but I opted for another book...your review here makes me a bit glad about my choice 😉👍🏼📚💝. 1mo

Pirates are cool. Pirates with magic are cooler. Pirates, magic and a capybara? An a chinchilla? And a marmot? Well, that' more than cool. I didn't always get what's going on, but I didn't really care. Why should I if I can spend time with a capybara pirate captain? And the sweetest chinchilla boy?
Thanks at @PuddleJumper for letting me steal this book 😉

PuddleJumper Glad you enjoyed it! I too found it a bit confusing 😅 2mo

The last story in the serious definitely gave me some Hitchcock The Birds vibes. Unwisely I was reading it in a village full of storks. 🙈
But I thought it was a suitable end for the story. And it gave some interesting insights on the life of authors of horror story.

They changed the paper and the style of the pictures in the last book of the series. 🙈 I - as a creature of habit - don‘t like it at all. 🤬 At least the format is the same.

Wow. Yes. More please! The art style, the humour, the world building, the mix of wholesome moments and truly dire circumstances. Y2K as the jumping off point for a very different, magical outcome. The twist! It's a lot packed into one story. I don't know that I'd consider this plot rushed, I think I just wish there was more of everything. Each part of the quest, definitely more of Daisy and benign toad tossing. ☺️ ⚠️Animal death

I won book 5 in a LibraryThing giveaway and thought I‘d catch up on the series while I wait for my copy. This was an adorable quick read about a boy that moves to a new city, discovers a fruit bat in his bedroom, and makes friends with his neighbors. Oh, and then there‘s the pigeon. 😂
